Not to be out done by Doug M. we have been busy little bees here in Houston working on the FrankenRover (KC, Ben, and Myself).

Last night we freshened up the front axle with seals, bearings and a new swivel assembly on the drivers side (replacing a buggered swivel ball from the twist off last year). Then KC welded on the motor mounts for the TDI (as I had cut off the V8 mounts already and prepped the frame - with the Sawzall baby!!!).

This morning we hoisted the TDI onto the chassis, and went wild from there. Bulkhead, new brake lines, new master to clutch slave line, steering components, etc, etc.

Anyway here are some more picts.

Okay...Now that I've gone and looked at the pics...One question. How close are the 38.5's to the bulk-head outriggers on the frame? Full-lock...Full stuff?

Wow Bill!

You three got a LOT done in one day! Very cool.

Ben and KC look like they're wondering whose toes are gonna get smashed first from the 300Tdi!!!

I'm liking those 38's. Wish I had a truck they'd fit on!

Keep it up!!!!

Well Mike beat me to it, I was just about to comment on the OHSHA approved saftey shoes. Birkenstocks are my favorite automotive footware.

Oh yea and the truck, it looking alot more like a vehicle and less like parts. I can just imagine you standing in the corner, cigar hanging out of you mouth and in your best 'Hanible from the A-Team' voice saying "I love it when a plan comes together". Congrats...Im jelous.

No shit I love it when people show up to work wearing sandals or flip flops. I'm sure welding is especially fun. Maybe I'm missing out but I'll stick to my Red Wings.

No shit! Everytime KC would help me in the shop he'd show up in his birks. Never seemed to phase him. My favorite is when he road along with me on rotocillo rapids in Las Cruses...He was wearing birks...The they were getting hung up on too many rocks (not good for boulder climbing) he went barefoot! If you've ever been out there you'll know what I'm talking about. F'in silly bastard.

So its not just me with the birks.

I catch all sorts of "are those OSHA approved" crap. But I wear them wheeling in deep mud, in the shop . . . in winter . . . with socks.

Hey Briggs,

Remember when I broke my foot after that leaf spring tipped over and landed on the top of it?!?

I seem to remember I was wearing Birks. The spring landed on the top of my arch between the two straps, and I was NOT wearing socks (it was summer). Ouch.

I think there's a lawsuit in there somewhere. No one required me to wear my steel-toed boots at 1010!

All this time I thought you were were working on a strut (as in cool walk, not the automotive part.) :flipoff2:
