And uh, yea, I do have a bad ass wheeler. But the tank trap still ate me up, spit me out with a destroyed front axle, and resulted in upgrades to Superior chromoly inners/outers for the ol' D60.

Corey...Believe it or not the Binder is full awn badass!!:eek: 502 BBC, I believe those axles are Rockwell F106, I do know that the axles came out of a large ditch witch machine. Hangover run they had the 48" ditch witch tires on, this time they were brand new tractor tires. The entire rig is hand built by them. The owner/builder is also one of the owners of Nortwest Matel Fab & Pipe, one of our sponsors. Now before ya' go thinkin' "checkbook truck":shaking:, this one aint!!
Owner is a completely down to earth, blue collar guy who loves to mud. NWMF&P bring their service truck to the events & weld up peoples broken junk for them so they can continue to flog.:D.
They brought their dozer out for extraction, they brought us a 5th wheel trailer completely loaded w/pallets for the bonfire. These kind of wheelers are what make an event like this continue to prosper & grow.:smokin:

Turns out I was mistaken.:D Met the NWMF&P boys @mudrun this afternoon to load dozer. The axles under the blue Binder' are not Rockwell F106. They are Eaton 3 ton diffs. He tried to explain to me how he can go so fast in reverse.....axles are turning the opposite way they were designed, in this application. He machined his own rotors for D-line brakes. What did Eaton diffs come in?????:(

I didnt get a good look, but they were 10? lug, flanged front and rear, no hubs showing. Definitly an interesting drivetrain. The exhaust is really loud too!

All I can say is there better be veeedeo of that thar mud chuckin event.... :flipoff2:

Fordman....Come out & play anyway. While Yer' 4 popper may not make a dramatic pass thru the "Tank Trap" , our 40 acre site is much much more than a mud bog! Trails & a hillside natural terrain MX track that we allow people who actually wheel their junk to enjoy.:D Many folks enjoy the site w/out 500 HP & 44's.

i will try and make it. might as well try and break the stock axles on 38"s before i put the 1 tons in.

I'd love to make it down your way too, just need to find a good event, i'd say trail ride but race gas is expensive, but if theres a good weekend long event somewhere in the middle i'd be game, i know of a race in eureka montana i think at the end of april if you're interested.

Well, he'd already posted up in this thread that he was not willing to hook up to me in a tug o' war....and then I found out my dad has terminal bone cancer so I'll be driving down to my folks place and spending the weekend with them instead.

Still, should be a kick ass event tomorrow. Don't see why not in the future we can't get some tug o' war vid with somebody else.

314 miles one way is too far to drive to chance breaking something while doing something stupid (i.e. tug o war) Should be a fun day, along with the blown ford we are bringing my 54 chevy on rocks and cut 44's

Terry, you certainly lived up to a "BAD ASS PIT"!!Dan and Tim tamed it a few times... third time wasn't a charm for us :laughing: We had a wonderful time even though we were awake for almost 24 hours straight! It was a pleasure meeting you and Marcy, Terry... You guys are GREAT! We'll play with you guys any time, loved the warm welcome and the feeling of instant friendship, you rock! 1: The ONLY modification made to that motor was an additional Predator Carb..... that's IT. Motor, other than that, was untouched in the rebuild.

Glad to hear everybody had fun. You can understand my prior confusion; that tube framed, mid-mount engine, ag-tire shod police truck doesn't even remotely resemble its previous reincarnation of the old blue Ford. Looks like different sheetmetal and suspension, too. Plus, I recall seeing vid of the old blue Ford and the police truck posted up around the same time a couple years back, so I thought it was just one of your buddies trucks. You really nailed the theme :smokin: Wish I could have been up there for a better look at it and to share some mud flinging. The old chevy looked plenty wicked too. LOVE that old sheetmetal. I've always wanted to throw a 40's era body on mine. I understand they groomed the trap a bit but it was still plenty nasty. Of course, I also heard it was frozen earlier in the day and some wussies with small motors* and less than 44's even made it through before it thawed out later on and started claiming victims *cough* Terry *cough* :flipoff2:

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again: I'm proud of the hard work Grant, Terry, and co. have put into this event and how much they've turned it around. Its already got friends of mine motivated to build their trucks just so they can bring them up for this. Good times :D

*edit: I just realized how fawked up my thinking has become. Granted, my point was to tease Terry, but calling a pretty healthy 460 with lots of go-fast parts a small motor indicated how skewed my thinking has become. Its kind of like a couple years back Ivan and I were at a pit party looking at some monster trucks and realized we didn't think 66" tires were really that big. Holy crap, once your perspectives become warped like that its all downhill.....

Finally.....Almost.... the return of the prodigal son: soon as the Big Black Hunka' Junk is in the house & floggin'(hopefully) the Trap.:eek:

Dad's got his usual, "whatever, ain't no big deal" attitude, Mom's not handling it too well. I know I'd mentioned before he'd recently had to have heart surgery due to all the prior chemo......and we thought he was over the health crisis in the immediate future.
