Yes i searched. . . . The motor in my buggy is out of a 99 vitara, its a 1.6.
My question is what is are the differances between the vitara motor and the regular sidekick 1.6? I have already learned that there are some differances, like the thermostat, and the waterpump. What interchanges between the two? thanks for the help guys. Ill throw this on just incase

The 1999 1.6 has a different computer, different intake, different exhaust manifold, different wiring, coil packs, no distributor......everything is different other than the longblock itself. The good news is that you can still use it in your buggy....it's just harder to do.

thats the thing its already in the buggy, and now things are starting to wear-out, such as the water-pump, thermostat, etc. I guess my question was, what will interchange between the two? like are the alternators the same?

The 1999 on up model alternators are different on the 1.6 and 2.0 liter motors and use a different plug. It does appear that you could retrofit a earlier model alternator on to the motor if you swapped the plugs, but I have not tried it. The GM alternator bracket would work on the 1999 on up 1.6 since it's the same block so that could be another alternative. In some years/models the 1.6 & 2.0 liter used an odd starter with threaded holes in the alternator itself instead of in the transmission bellhousing and all the 2.0 liter starters & 1.6 starters are interchangeable other than those I just mentioned.
