Im new to pirate4x4 and have a few questions on the cherokee's.
I have a 94 XJ and am looking at a 98 XJ that needs a motor. I would like to know if it would be possible with some work replace the engine and trans out of the 98 with my 94 engine and tranny. I know I would have to put another center console in it and put the extra pedal in but other than that is it even possible with these two diffent body styles.

so your going from an auto to a manual, i don't see why it wouldn't work.

Alright I just wasn't sure if these two years would fit being that I wasn't just going to swap the engine. Still not sure if I'm going that route but I think it would be a little easier. The 94 that I have now is going to take a lot of rust removal. If I dont get this 98 cherokee I guess I'll be doing some more torchin to the body to get rid of the rust.

The 1994 motor is obd1 and the 1998 is obd2, so if you are in area that test emissions or does obd2 scanning you will need to convert your 1994 motor to obd2 using the electronics and manifold from the 1998's original motor, you may need to swap more stuff than just that, but I have never done an xj obd1 to obd2 swap.
