How do I figure out which trans this is? Casting #s or?
Decided to pull the 345 and 5 speed from the 5 ton (as soon as snow is a little lower) and put them into BMax's '68 Travelall rather than put the '66 Trav's unknown condition 304/BW auto in. (tcase is remote already)
The 1800 has a single rear axle (Eaton? 2 or 3 speed according to the door tag and the switch on the side of the shifter cane) and the trans has a Brownie over/under box behind it with PTO.
We'll probably use the hydraulic pump to run a winch on the Trav when the axles get upgraded too (got a '79 F450 4x4 that got the top burnt for replacement D60/D70 SRW axles)
Yup. Going to take pics. It'll take awhile to finish (probably won't be ready till Brian is back from AK in the fall. His Scout 80 comes first)
I figure with the 345, 5 speed (pretty sure 5th is just 1:1), Brownie O/D and low range (which gives 15 speeds forwards even counting the similar ones) and the D70 rear/D60 front (4.10s) it should still cruise the highway okay (even better than before) and offroad while pulling down a house.
I don't think the D200 tcase will stand up (mounting system will need plenty of beefing up anyways) as I think I hurt it last summer just with the BG241 6 cyl. (that motor will be for sale soon too. Good runner but horrible gas mileage and no O/D or PS easily obtainable without $$$)
