: Exploder gets tube doors.
Explorer 08-22-2002, 10:46 PM Tube doors are just about done. Next week they'll get aluminum skins. The tube doors will cut about 300 lbs off the weight of the truck. The hatch will take off another 80 or more. I'm on a diet :D
Fab work is by FST (http://www.flynhi.com/fst.htm) in Phoenix.

Dustball 08-22-2002, 11:27 PM Sweet, dude. The skins, are they gonna be a solid sheet or a mesh-type deal?
Explorer 08-22-2002, 11:30 PM They will be sheet aluminum.
Ultim8kaos 08-23-2002, 05:13 AM Dude, those are sweet. Do you have any more pics that show the detail of the latches?

dmeis 08-24-2002, 08:14 PM Looks pretty crafty! Next thing you know you'll be cutting the top off and getting a soft top....
Buy a JEEP!!! :flipoff2:
IronBenderII 08-25-2002, 10:57 PM DM, if Jeeps are so good, why are you in our section? Proably looking for ways to be built Ford tuff by replacing your J**p shit. Damn, that didn't rhyme. Oh well.
As for the doors, can you slam them closed? I need to be able to slam my doors closed. I'm lazy that way.
They look awesome!
-Jack
Explorer 08-25-2002, 11:30 PM You can push or pull them closed. They don't like slamming they will usually bounce back. Just a light push or pull and they latch. I tried them on the trail and there was a very slight bind when I was twisted up, but I was still able to latch and unlatch them.
Explorer 08-30-2002, 05:36 PM Skins are about done. I don't like the rear ones so they are redoing them. They left a gap on the fronts so I can see the tires, but they did the same in the rear and I don't like the way it looks.
IronBenderII 08-30-2002, 06:33 PM Lookin good. You should put some clear plexiglass on the front so that you still have all of the advantages of having the doors on while not loosing visability.
-Jack
Explorer 08-30-2002, 08:42 PM Hmmm, that would be a great idea on the passenger side. No need on the driver side.
Thanks!
1248bullitt 10-09-2002, 02:44 PM What happened with this? anymore updates? Are they working out good for you?
