My donor car is in pieces and am about to start spending money, could use a little direction. My 67 EB is getting motor and trans from an 86 mustang with an advanced adaptor. I plan on DDing this, looking for economy and reliability, but will tow and 4wheel once in a while. The truck has 31"s and 3.50 gears. I test drove the car a couple of miles and seemed ok, though the PO said that it sometimes hunted between 3rd and 4th. If the direct clutches check out, I'll chalk the hunting up to the TV adjustment. The aod appears to have been rebuilt recently, seals are soft and can still read the writing on the intermediate clutches. Theres was no crap in the pan. The 2-3 accumulator has "shift-fix" written on it? Is this a mod or update? The OD piston is marked with a "B". Will this give me enough pressure? I need to get some seals and gaskets for it, and am putting together a parts list. Any recommendations for a shift kit? How about a boost valve for reverse? I intend to use a stock converter.

What emissions shit can be eliminated? I'd like to ditch the air pump, egr, and all of the vacuum lines. Whats the SOP for a strong clean engine compartment with a happy ecu? I plan on running the speed density computer and harness.
Will the factory mustang headers work? Or should I keep the 40yr old headers I have?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Yea here is some advice go buy yourself an Explorer motor :D JK. You can eliminate the smog pump and egr valve. The only thing I have read on the EGR is that sometimes you need to run a EGR eliminator so that way it isnt causing a constant code in the computer, Ryan over at FORDFUELINJECTION.COM sells them for 8 bucks I think. As for the AOD check this thread out over at Classicbroncos.com http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118586&highlight=AOD+reuild have fun :flipoff2:

The sploder moder is phase 2, but will be running the efi from this one, I already have the ps hoses for this one, and will buy the reusable pan gasket so I'm only out the time of putting this one in until I find and go through another engine.
I'm checking out that trans thread right now.
I don't think I need any special tools, instead of the slide hammer I bolted a chain to the pump and yanked it. As for the seal installer tool, my seals all look good and won't be removing them.
I still need some info on improvements while in the trans.

Made a EGR blockout plate at work yesterday. Still need to looking into removing this emissions crap, and figure out which headers to run.
