I want to upgrade my 1978 K5 Blazer for trail use by installing a 4 inch lift kit and running 35 inch tires. The drive train on this rig is completely stock. I have a 1985 3/4 ton chevy c20 longbed. The rear end on this truck is the 14bolt semi float using 4.10 gears. The front is also 8 lug so I'm assuming it's a HD44. The transmission is a TH400 and I think it has an NP208 transfer case. My question is would that stuff bolt up to my Blazer and if so would it be worth doing?:homer:

I would go for a Dana 60 and full floating 14 bolt right away. Build it to handle anything you could throw at it. Or, kick yourself later... I guess it comes down to your style of driving. With 35" tires, you should be okay-ish with the stock axles of the 3/4 ton. Just because the front has 8 lugs, doesn't make it a HD44. I had a 78 K20 with a regular 44 8 lug in it. (Swapped out for a D60:smokin:)
I vote you lose the 208 for a 205. Stronger.
Good luck, post pics.

you would have to measure but i believe those axles should bolt up... maybe. Get out the tape measure and figure out what your center pin to center pin measurement is.

Yeah the axles will bolt up no problem, same perch width and all. I had an 85 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 with an 8 lug 10b front axle(that's what yours will be too more than likely) and a sf14b with 4.10s and the th400/208 combo. You should be fine with the axles, 4inch lift and 35s and a little trimming. The 208 is alot better than your most likely 203 imo. Just do a shackle flip on the rear instead of blocks too, it will give you about 4"s. Hope this helps and post some pics when you get it done.
