I ship them Fed Ex ground w/o a box. They just tag them and ship them. About $15/ spring. They weigh 30-40 lbs each.

Same here. I think they were UPS and were $10 a spring w/o box. They came from Cali to NY. They were Rancho 2 1/2" YJ's.

I just shipped a set of leaf springs via UPS. They took them w/o a box, but charged an extra 7.50 per spring to do it.
Total cost San Diego to Texas was 90.00, ouch...

UPS no box fee is $5 per package, u can get around this by ducttaping 2 together and wrapping in shrinkwrap(saran wrap) REALLY THICK so it wont fall apart and slap a label on it. i KNOW both Fed Ex and UPS do no box fees whether the particular individual you speak with knows it or not. the best way ive found though is find boxes that side steps or bumpers came in and you can fit 2 in there. if you dont believe me check out my cuztom title;)

I work at FedEx as a handler, and we see leaf springs come through without boxes all the time. Unless it's a flat spring, that's gonna be a weird shaped box...
