is your crancase vent thru the valve cover plugged or excessive blow by, could even be in the head if its all gummed up

there are 2 vent lines in the valve cover, one has a pvc on it and its new, the other is routed to a gas filter and dropped down beside the clutch linkage. should i remove that filter and route the line to the charcoal box? a little oil comes out of the filter, but without the filter, alot of oil come out.

How is the compression? You may have a worn out eng and it is excessive blow-by.

about 110,000 miles, but pulls like a mofo. has a plume of smoke at start-up and has black oil blowing out the tailpipe when i rev it.

Could be blow by from the rings. Do a wet/dry compression test.

If it's blowing smoke, then it could be pulling better than it is now.

I had a replacement rubber hose for a line of the PCV to the manifold...
When it got hot it was sucking shut and the only place for oil and pressure to escape was the dipstick.
I bent a piece of brake line like tubing to replace the rubber hose PCV line... It does not leak any more and now I am going to bend that kind of metal tubing and replace all my vacume lines. I might even get some galvanized 1.5inch electrical conduit and place all my wires in side of it and bend the stuff nice and neat all around the fire wall etc. Then I could get me some of that bright blue FOO FOO paint and make dress the motor up real well.
I would check your PCV hose.
