last night, i got a fantastic deal on a set of pro comp m/t with only about 2000 miles on them. i got my tax return back and want to get a lift. now, i was looking into the rough country 4", but upon asking around, i've determined that that may not be the lift for me. most say that it's a great lift for occasional mild off roading. however, i'm looking to do a bit more than that. lately, we've been going out every weekend at a few local spots. a few of them are pretty rugged. so, here's the question that i ask to the more experienced members here.

which kit should i get for what i'm wanting to do? not into super hard core stuff and i'd like to keep the lift at 4-6". also, i don't want to spend $1500 either. that's the main thing i liked about the rough country lift was the price point. for what it was, $600 was a great deal. i've already got the shackle lift and i've got a set of f-150 seats that i'm going to install this weekend, and i've been running 31's for a while now. they do fine, but i need more clearance.

any advice, suggestions, web links, pictures, etc... is greatly appreciated.
i've looked into sky jacker but they're just too damn proud of their kits, lol.

Buy a torch and a dumpster and build a real suspension.

If your lookin to do this on a budget... it's gonna be hard. Best thing I can say is get a 6" class II lift for a Ranger from Skyjacker. Order it with lift blocks or an add a leaf, whatever is cheaper. The kit bolts on and works well. If your still not liking the price on it, just order the normal 6" lift and not the class II. The class II has the extended radius arms.... and can be bought later if you feel the need to spoil yourself and your rig. Personally, unless your gonna be rock crawling, it's not really needed.
This is what a 6" is like on an Explorer with 33's.

wow, no wonder i usually don't browse this forum. i appreciate the one actual answer, but the rest of you can eat directly out of my ass hole. what the fuck is your problem? i asked a simple question about the quality of a particular lift. is it really that hard to either answer or press the back button.

fucking kids.:shaking:

Soooooooooooooooooo, you have done this before??

I answered your question, buy a torch, get a sawzall, or a grinder with a cut off wheel, read alot and build it right. None of us just woke up and our rigs were built. Search the board I recall a couple of cool explorer builds.

well... i've never eaten my OWN asshole.:D

i would love to have the know how to do all that, but i'd be more comfortable carting around my 1.5 year old son in a truck with a professionally designed kit.

I had the same lift on mine when I got her...works well for most standard wheelin...drove fine...worked fine..best kit out there...

just remember...cheap and good are seldom compatible...try www.therangerstation.com or www.explorer4x4.com for someone taking a lift off..and real world advise about them..

Wow. Us ford guys should have our own forum, for all these ford related question.

Oh, wait.... We do.

Standards have really dropped the last couple years, so you can get away with this kind of question there.

Thanks, lazy fawks that don't post in the CORRECT FORUM usually don't get alot of positive response. If everyone posted their BS "newbie" questions all over General, it would get pretty bogged down and create alot of effort to find useful "advanced" information. If you notice, there are several places to post questions, the poster should take the time to find the appropriate forum. I assure you that if this question was placed in the correct forum initially, these responses wouldn't have taken place. In addition, if the OP had posted a question in General that was "fitting" for that forum, he would have gotten a positive response.

In summary, watch this...

i posted in the general section because it was more of a brand question... not so much a vehicle specific question. i was inquiring as to others' opinions of the quality of rough country lifts... not if that lift would fit on my truck, how it would look, or how it performed on an explorer.
