Im going to pick up a 14 bolt and 44 with flat top knuckles for $300 this weekend and I have a few questions. Are there any common issues I should look for on the housing? I plan on taking it apart and fixing anything internaly that looks bad, gears and locker. Is there an easy way to tell if the housing is bent? I thought $300 for the 14 bolt was a good price and the 44 was a bonus.
Thanks:flipoff2:

$300 is way too much for a 14 bolt. You can get em for $100 in the junkyards and even less on craigslist around here. Although if you got a flat top D44 with it also, the price seems about right. As far as the housing, make sure there are no cracks but i doubt there would be. If you wanted to check the ring gear pop off the cover and if you want to check the pinion just unbolt the pinion housing and take a look, just dont lose the shims on it.

$300 is not bad, depending on the part of the country you live.
They go for $250-300 where I live.

You're in HI!!!:grinpimp: $300 seems high for a 14 bolt alone, but with the 44 seems pretty decent, you can always sell the 44 for a couple hundred dollars to put towards the 14b build. .02

Yeah, I am in Hawaii, where a Dana60/14 bolt combo can sell for anywhere from $1400 and up.
Not that anyone really uses them here.
