: Suspension Issue
beach_luvn_jeeper 02-06-2009, 09:49 AM Hey, I'm getting ready to do a S.O.A. (Spring over Axle) with revolver shackles on my CJ7. My question is, do you think I can run 33" tires on it or do I need a body lift as well? They Open the beaches for jeeps in the winter out here, so I'm hoping to hit the dunes as soon as possible:smokin: Thanks

come back on TUESDAY:flipoff2:
azhayseed 02-06-2009, 11:12 AM This isn't hardcore!
But to answer your question, you should be ok with 33's and a spring over with stock springs. That's the way my CJ was a Loooong time ago.
bbaxter51 02-06-2009, 11:15 AM do an SOA and those 33's are going to look tiny under there..
NE-RokToy 02-06-2009, 12:06 PM I hope you havent payed for the revolvers allready
BigKev11 02-06-2009, 12:18 PM Oh boy, beach_luvn_jeeper you need to duck and cover.
Tjeepfreak 02-06-2009, 12:28 PM I say that theres no way you can fit 33's on there when you do an SOA, your going to need atleast a 4" body lift :shaking:
mechanicalmongoose20 02-06-2009, 01:13 PM dude, have you even researched this at all??? A common spring over gives you about 5-6" of lift. Say your springs are soft and saggy(like boobies), and your around 4-5"...you should still be able to run 35"s no sweat. and if they rub, time to trim. ditch the revolvers....or buy extra drive shafts.

i think he was being sarcastic:flipoff2:
bspencer 02-06-2009, 07:20 PM DO NOT USE THE REVOLVERS when you go SOA
go SOA, throw on a set of 36's. make sure to put on a rear antwrap bar, extend brake lines and drive shafts and your good to go.. mostly

beach_luvn_jeeper 02-10-2009, 10:23 AM OK!! So, I'm getting the idea that revolvers aren't so good and I can run bigger than a 33" with an SOA, so...:jeep: Can I run 38's if I run the SOA and shakle extensions from say, Auto Zone?
botiejeep 02-10-2009, 10:44 AM Your an idiot. I would say 35 or 36 max with soa and no body lift.
TJBuck 02-10-2009, 10:51 AM He's mentioning shackle extensions from Auto Zone, dont feed the trolls! :ogre:
:shaking::shaking::shaking::shaking:
cscotted 02-10-2009, 03:37 PM :mad3: is this guy serious?

x3 Go back under your bridge.
It's got to be a joke. The Autozone question is to much.:flipoff2:
Jays yj 02-10-2009, 07:33 PM you kidding !!!!!!!!!!!!!
beach_luvn_jeeper 02-11-2009, 12:58 PM Seriously, this is not a joke. I said autozone because I have a really, really close friend that works there and I get discounts. That's all.
blue p.o.s. 02-11-2009, 01:32 PM i'd SOA it on 4'' skyjacker springs, run the revolvers, and possibly a 3'' body lift. i would then put on some chrome tube bumpers, and some smitty built nerf bars. you will probably want an inclinometer on the dash, so you will know if you are going to roll on a sidehill too. all of that should net you enough to clear 33's safely, and pull all the prostitots at the beach.
HoodBoogie 02-11-2009, 01:38 PM Why cant he do the 3" body with the revolvers with z-blocks and some RE extreme duty 4.5's setup for SOA. he could even swap in a dana 30 and 35 to hold those 38's. dont forget the sch40 cage and the neon windshield sprayer caps
Mach2_nh 02-11-2009, 02:41 PM THey will fit just fine. But i would loss them shackles no matter what you do.
ahighfivetolife 02-11-2009, 03:15 PM What they're trying to say is...
Don't post this in the hardcore section. :shaking:

:laughing::laughing: Dont forget the the 3" chrome nerfs for rocker protection They are a must and about 10 6in kcs
cscotted 02-12-2009, 01:34 PM WTF is this doing in hardcore?
cavaliers1323@aol.co 02-13-2009, 06:53 PM depends on how close said friend is? cuz the vatozone shackles are pure beef. and those aluminum blocks are sweet too. talk about lightweight! x2 on the chrome bumpers, they are hawt. i also found that if you mount your revolvers backwards they work twice as good :flipoff2:
psenova1 02-13-2009, 10:21 PM you will have plenty of room 33s are going to be an easy fit
howyadoin 02-14-2009, 07:30 AM Dear OP...

mechanicalmongoose20 02-17-2009, 01:22 PM ok dude, heres whats up. Your dealing wit ha bunch of guys that most of the time never ask for advice on how to do simpler things like a SOA. These guys just do it, make sure the bolts are tight and welds are good, and run the hell out of it. Most of the time, less is more...less lift, more tire....spring it over for under axle clearance and run 36" tires. Unless you've spent 10k on the paint, if the tires rub, trim the hell out of it. Autozone shackles??? come on...you can buy some very decent shackles fairly cheap, or do as i did...make your own. Stop trying to sweat everything and just start building. You'll know what to do when its time to do it. JUST DO IT!!!!
