Well, looks like my tax refund may get spent on something other than what I planned. My wheeling trip on Tuesday led to a loud clanking, when I put it up on the lift to investigate, I found my sector shaft in the steering box wabbling around pretty bad:eek:. I am running 37" with 6" springs and a 5.4, do I replace it with a rebuild, or do I upgrade and get the ram from ORU or AGR? Anyone have any info? I just started using this truck for wheeling a year ago, don't want to keep blowing out boxes if this is going to keep happening, the box rebuilt is $218, ORU wants $1100 for the kit, plus shipping and a core charge, that could be my winch bumper and part of a warn m15000, and suggestions?

do not go to ORU - they suck. search for posts by me on it.
the 06 f350 i put a ORU kit on has 1500 miles on it and the sector shaft moves bad again. with assist it makes it worse, as the ram starts to turn as soon as the input shaft is turned, but them its to much, making it a fight to drive.

if you like the way it steers now, get a reman box. if you want more steering power look into a psc system.

im working on a brace for the pitman arm, ill post pics when im done 9 a week or two )

thank you sir, put the reman box on yesterday, works better than I remember, had to do a new pitman arm as well since the threads were half way destroyed. Thanks for the link, looks like the best way to go, plus I still have cash for the winch bumper, big fan of the one you made by the way:smokin:
