: Status: Dual Toyota T/C in a ZUK !!
LoneZuk 08-23-2002, 05:12 PM Has anyone completed installing their dual Toyota cases in their zuk ?
Maybe even a Single case with a divorced adapter !!
I have completed building the small jack shaft to connect the parts up. The overall length of this unit is awesome !
I am still wondering about the length and angle of the rear drive shaft.
Currently my project is stalled out while I work on my 85 Toyota 4x4's carb problems.
tdavis 08-23-2002, 05:32 PM My camera is on loan..
How long of a jack shaft did you make?
I cut down the spare one I had, so I've got two types - one single u-joint, on dual joint (almost CV type).
The biggest problem I've found so far - the ott adapter flange is huge, and touches the tranny when I've got the single u-joint in place, and tucked in tight.
poppycock 08-23-2002, 05:41 PM i've got dual toys and a toy tranny
poppycock 08-23-2002, 08:23 PM lets see some pics :D

How did you mate the Toy trans to your zuk ?
LoneZuk 08-24-2002, 06:12 AM tdavis
I will take a picture later on.
Starting with the stock jack shaft
a) Cut tube off the transfer side flange
b) Cut tube off the trans side leaving 3/4 of an inch.
c) Clean up the trans side flange
I used a power saw on this job to keep things straight.
Length: 10 inches, flange mating surface to the end of the splined transmission coupler.

theres an adaptor available. it's the same setup mr. fish has.
LoneZuk 08-24-2002, 09:21 PM Yes there is an adapter for the Toy to a 1.6 Kick engine.
I still have my 1.3 zuk. Samota is not running the 1.3 zuk.
To use the adapter I need to either go with a 1.6 kick engine or use an adapter to mate the 1.6 kick bell housing to my zuk, use a kick flywheel, toyota clutch, kick starter .... not a low cost conversion.
With all the adapters, bell housing, dual toy TC's the resultant package could be long to have a drive shaft that is decent length and angle.
That is my overall problem in this coversion with the stock wheel base.
Thank you for you input.
tdavis 08-24-2002, 09:29 PM Actually..
You can do it with a 1.3; you call up Kerry, and say
"I want the Lucky 13, and the toy tranny adapter". He'll charge you about $50 for the lucky13, and about $350 for the toy adapter.
You go find a 1.6 bellhousing, and the toy tranny.
Now, you bolt the lucky13, the 1.6 bellhousing, the toy tranny adapter, and bingo, you've got that trusty old 1.3 hooked up solid.
Of course, this all came out *after* I placed my order for the OTT divorce adapter..

It looks like the parts prices have come down. Lucky1.3 was around 100 and the "RingeR" adapter around 399 a few months ago. That is a price decrease of of 100.00, not bad. The only other parts required are the 1.6 bell housing and starter and flywheel ( say 300.00 ), toyota clutch (150 ), bearing (20). Looks like around $970.00 + just to get started. A 22r swap may clost less ro a 1.6 and the "RingeR".

The overall package is 29+ inches long !
scwafish 08-26-2002, 09:41 PM Mine is done and it works badass. It was a PITA. but I wouldnt do it any other way.
fatkid 08-26-2002, 10:08 PM I'm having an Ultimate built this week and I will be running Kerrys Lucky13 package also. I wouldn't do it any other way. However I have an extended well base and 38's with Toy axles. I don't think I could.:)

Truer words are rarely spoken. Now if we can just find room for the radiator with the 22R!
tdavis 08-27-2002, 11:09 AM Ok, I'll bite, or nibble..
Who can get me a 1.6 bell housing, and the toy tranny, and at what price?
Thanks!
scwafish 08-27-2002, 12:04 PM I think Hawk and others have big piles of 1.6 bells, since there wasnt much demand for them before, they're around $50. Toy trannys...only about a zillion made:D I paid about $150, they are on this bbs alot.

Your sig indicated that you have a LWB, will this package fit a stock length tin top?
Do you have dual toyota transfer cases or Marlin gears ?
What is the package length from the rear of the 1.3 to the rear transfer case flange surface?
Thanks for the info!!
fatkid 08-27-2002, 08:47 PM From what I could measure an Ultimate (dual toy Cases, one with a 4.7 marlin gear) only measure a few inches longer than a stock Zuk set up. I measured from the bell housing to the rear driveshaft flange.
LoneZuk 08-28-2002, 05:57 PM I have taken some measurements
The stock package is 22.5 inches long from the jackshaft @ the transmission to the mating surface of the rear flange.

That compares with 29+ for the divorced dual case package
http://www.users.qwest.net/~salto/imageJVT.JPG
http://www.users.qwest.net/~salto/imageV6J.JPG
That is 7 inches longer in overall package length and over 6 inches higher for the rear output. That will make for one short high angle drive shaft .
