I am swapping the diff and gears from one 14 bolt to another (4.56), got stopped when I found I did not have a socket big enough for the yoke nut. Anyone know how big it is?

And while I'm at it, what is the size of the chev dana 60 yoke nut? Might as well get both while I'm at it.

Thanks for the info.

Ok this may be a stupid observation on my part ,,,, But you dont need to take off the pinon nut to swap the pinon assemblys. So you must be doing something else right?

Not a stupid observation at all - in fact, it's a very good point. What little gear swapping I've done in the past has always been on Dana axles, where you did have to remove that nut to get the pinion out. So now that I look at it, it does look as though I could get the whole assembly out with those bolts that hold the 'pinion assembly'....... so it's OK just to swap that entire thing out to the other housing? I'm guessing it's not only OK, but preferable (??).

Thanks for filling a 14b newbie in. I'm likin' this one ton stuff!!!! WAY easier to work on.

I think I've used a 1 1/2" socket--could be wrong thou.

14 bolt FF 1.5"socket

Dana 60 1-5/16ths You will more than likely need what is called a thin wall socket for this, a regular socket would not fit in between the round walls of the yoke. At least on every D60 I have done.

Thanks for all the info. I will get the sockets you've recommended, and I will try moving the entire pinion assembly on the 14b. Cool.

I was doing this today. I went from store to store till I found them.
I got some thickwall 3/4 drive sockets. 1 5/16ths and the next size up.
The 1 5/16ths fits the nut, but as said you'll need a thin wall socket. 1.5 for the 14b. I had to use some other jiger riged method to get the nuts of, but once you put 1410 yolks :D on won't need the thinwall socket.

Yep, thats what I run now 1410 yokes front and rear!!;)

And BTW, I found the 1.5" available with a 1/2drive, but on the 1-5/16ths, it was a 3/4 drive with a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter. And the 1-5/16ths also works well on some various transfercase yoke nuts too!
