Bad75GMC 02-13-2009, 08:03 PM Thanks man!
dragoonranch 02-15-2009, 09:46 AM This is good stuff, a snorkel is one of the last things I would need if I make it to TTC. :D

I was more thinking one of the first:laughing:
Grumpy_old_fart 02-15-2009, 10:00 AM if youre doing ttc, i can see the need.
I wouldnt attempt that, not without a fresh start on a rig.
spidr 02-15-2009, 10:01 AM Bah. Mines fresh.

mine isnt... my puny little dana 44 front and dinky little 38" boggers will not survive...
for bashing like that, i need a complete system redesign.
spidr 02-15-2009, 10:07 AM I figure bigger axles, motor and a snorkel.
Damn.,........That's half a rebuild anyways.....
r0nin89 02-15-2009, 10:11 AM Pff I dont think I would go to TTC with leafs under my truck let alone 3/4ton gear.
As far as the snorkel goes check out search button here and ck5.com a few have adapted an fj80 safari to fit nicely.
subranger 02-15-2009, 12:57 PM this is a pic of mine with the intake into the cab and the way that it was set up the frist time. in the proses of redoing it

will have to look i know that i have the "spectre" #s but not napa's. but they are in napa performance catalog.
spidr 02-15-2009, 03:08 PM Spectre #s would work, I can get the parts monkeys to find it then and save me some time in there.

Redder 02-15-2009, 04:52 PM here's my set up on my S10.. it barely pops above the hood I wouldn't really call it a snorkel but without inner fenders my air filter would be clogged quickly on a wet day.. anyways $15 for everything

that is for the most part what i'm running now. was never happy with the fit of the Dakota plenum on the eldelbrock carb i needed to run a 1/2 spacer to make it fit down flush.
dragoonranch 02-11-2010, 10:21 PM In the running again this year. We are going with a dual TBI on the 454 we are swapping in, so I am going to have to get creative with this one.

jenks21 02-12-2010, 01:38 PM If you search around the mud forum I think there is three or four threads in there with pictures. Here is the one I did along with some others ideas.

florida4x4 02-13-2010, 06:15 AM f.n.a. McMaster sells some fiberglass/silicone duct that holds up pretty well. it's pricy at 8/ft... I fabbed up a carb hat and used the ducting to run a k&n in the cab.
http://www.florida4x4.com/images/epass.jpg
it works pretty well
http://www.florida4x4.com/images/Multipics162.jpg
I backed out of that place under my own power when the water started going up the k&n.
only problem with the duct is after several years it starts to deteriorate. I've been thinking about using mandrel bends (http://www.mandrel-bends.com/catalog/mandrel-bends-34/) to do something more permanent but that is going to wait until the next build..
Back Woods 02-13-2010, 08:42 AM for mine im going to hack up the stock air cleaner for the piece that sits on the carb. then cut a hole in some box tube and weld the carb (hat) piece to the bottom, seal up one end of the box tube and then run exhaust tubing from the box tube into the cab.
i always like how Government Mules sorkel was set up.
poorboy1 02-13-2010, 09:02 AM You know what I'd do? Two snorkels at the same time. [Lawrence from office space]
What kinda snorkles would do that?.............The kind that would double up on a dude like me.
I'll try and dig up pics of my old snorkle. It wasnt for deep water as much as keeping the mud from pushing over the engine into the intake.
subranger 02-13-2010, 06:48 PM this is how mine ended up.
