Well this last couple weeks has been one heck of an adventure... But finally, we got finished with 'AJ' today and delivered it to his owner.
http://www.dandcextreme.com/pro1/Dcp04480.jpg
Its a 1969-70 Scout 800A, 304, T18, D20, SOA w/ RS, 2.5" Mr Scout springs, Scout II D44s w/ 4.56 gears, Spool rear, LockRite Locker front, X-over steering, Power Brakes, Rancho RS9012/9010 9-speed shocks, 36x12.50 SuperSwamper TSL/SX on 15x10s, 6-point cage system w/ modified AtariBars, HighAngle's 12" RockCrawler front CV-Style Shaft, new stuff and other things, bikini top and some stickers.
http://www.dandcextreme.com/pro1/DCP04481.JPG

Ya ya, you say ~ but how well does it perform? With new springs and tires at a full 35 psi we got 33" of flex lifting the front tire w/ Freddy (ForkLift) ...
http://www.dandcextreme.com/pro1/Dcp04458.jpg
... and 37-38" of flex with Freddy grabbing a rear tire. Just makes me wonder what it'll do after the springs wear in.

Oh, this Rig is making a B-line to the Rubicon next weekend if you guys want to see it SPANK the owners Inlaws (all of which are Jeep addicts).

As you all know, there are several hundred pictures of this buildup (which will be replacing Project 1 - RickRocks Scout II) uploaded to a secret URL - www.dandcextreme.com/pro1

Hey, snoop well the hell is the rear spreader on the cage. Not going to do the rear passengers a lot of good if you roll it.

Your looking at a fat lawsuit if dude rolls that thing with someone in the back.

33" of flex? I'm not seeing that in the pics. That would mean that you get approx. 16.5" of both upward travel and downward travel.

I think he ment to say that the forks are 33" off the ground.

What are Ataribars? Is it something unique to Scout cages?

Just a name Damien came up with, the middle spreaders for his Scout cages form what looks like the old Atari logo.

We build them the way they want them...we put a couple 19" 45* supports to tie the rear up and give more lateral support. Heck, we didn't even tie the cage to the frame... NOW before you all start going crazy ~ the owner is taking it back to Vegas for new seats, PS, new body mounts and (after the body mounts) he's tieing the cage into the frame at all places...

Thats measuring to the forklift arms...we do that to check aproximate flex, stability and over-all shock, brake line and fender clearance... If you go for RTI scores it did 1000ish front and 1150ish rear.

jdjanda got it right, they are simply some bars (similar to CB bars) that are butted against each other then 45* away from each other 10" before the main hoop, we then continue them back to the rear spreaders as well.. The concept is that it gives the driver and passenger plenty of head room....while giving the cage forward-to-back support as well as some side-to-side support (in the front section and in the rear section) ~ It works well and looks decent... Almost all my customers have us do it when we build them cages.

Ya, I thought of that too, we were going to cut off the ends and make them stick straight out (on either side of the reciever) but the owner needed to get to Denver and see his kids before he left to Vegas...

Now you know why I'm not so worried about my "no-flex" suspension.. that was about the biggest obstacle we found all day - and the camera guy cut out the front of the picture, which might've made it look at least a *little* more interesting.

This trail gets a lot more interesting with snow on it - one of those "tight tree Jeep trails" you guys have over there. :D

Maybe we'll try to run it this winter. I should've taken more pics at the mining camp - about 10' up one of the trees near there there's a few branches cut/broken off.. from when Don came down this spring. The broken branches were about side-mirror height..

Hey Snoop I'm no cage expert by any means, but.... It would seem that the 45 support there may cause the front hoop section to collapse. If the rig rolls onto it's side the 45 is going to push on the hoop in a section where there is little support (can't tell if there are stringers meeting the 45 support). It seems with out the rear cross bar your really compromising the design of the cage, if you used a factory type rear bar and a front hoop with stringers you'd have a stronger cage (granted not as 'custom' looking) True? I'll have to post the pics of my cage so you can trash my design :flipoff2:

Yes, yes I do. But when I do a buildup, I don't run out of pictures... or at least rarely.

The write up will be on our new site...which will be switched over on Wednesday - tomorrow. So depending on the Internet, we'll see how quickly the whole change-over will take. I'm crossing my fingers.

Wasn't planning on it...and since the rig is now in Vegas, it'd be hard too...Gotta love those 5/8" U-bolts :eek:GOT BEEF:question::eek:...but in all honesty, there are no clearance problems with the U-bolts.

The new site should be up in a matter of days...that is ~ IF everything works as planned with the whole domain swap-over. I think you'll like what you'll see, definately. Not to spam but we have replaced and completed Project 1 and 2, we are completing Project 3, finished Project 4, anounced Project 5, continuing the Beater Buildup, and lastly adding a new crawler named RockBinder
until the site gets swapped the URL for the beta version (the rear one) is http://www.netbdigital.com/dandc/indexnew.asp

Anyway, end spam.
