Had a great time! All in all I thought it was a decent event. First crawling competition I have been to and it makes me want to get my junk ready for EEROC even more!!!

Met Woody and Spaceghost. Two very nice guys. Syko, I'm surprised I didn't see you around.

Got a good shot of Mike (Spaceghost) giving the ole' Pirate salute!

I took 93 total pics and two short audioless videos.

Pics can be seen here...ProRocks Pics 8-24-02 (http://www.crlcustoms.com/images/ProRocks824/index.html)

Video #1 (2.3 meg) (http://www.crlcustoms.com/images/ProRocks824/PICT0030.AVI) of Mike getting winched from each end to straighten himself out.

Video # 2 (5.1 megs) (http://www.crlcustoms.com/images/ProRocks824/PICT0086.AVI) of I don't know who getting and staying on the throttle to get out.

I also wanted to say to Rusty...you fully GOT IT on that same rock (video 2) going the other way.

Do you know how many vehicles and your guess to the number of spectators?

I think around 16-17 vehicles in both classes and around 200 or so spectators.

We had 67 vehicles in a total of 3 classes, and estimates on spectators was about 4000, gate reciepts showed only 1600 :(

From what I saw they did pretty good.

The red buggy was running them and the orther buggy with the wing for a roof was as well. Infact I think the roof wing buggy had the entire Mog drivetrain under it.

The roof wing buggy also had no spotter and no hard mounted winch. I watched him skip a pair of gates in section 2 because you almost had to use the winch to prevent you from sliding into the creek.

All in all they did alright, but I wouldn't say any better than any of the other competitors.

If anyone happened to see a dude in a REALLY loud hawaiian shirt, plaid shorts, a backwards baseball cap, lumbar pack, and a camera glued to his hands ... yulp, that was the one and only cmk.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place were all taken by vehicles running D60's and 37" tires.

I didn't even see syko and he was standing right next to me at one point. I yelled at him to get out of the way :) I did see cmk, now that I know what he was wearing. I'm thinking 60's are the way to fly (just watch durham and hamilton, they really do fly) they're just easier to get and to get parts for and they're way cheaper.

Troy and the crew from the Badland's were great. The facility has awesome promise for a great event. Thank you to ALL the volunteers for making it happen.

Now about the Pro Rock event put on by Bob Hazel- It sucked. Worst event I've ever been to, participated in, seen in any manner (TV, video, etc). They pull close to 3000 spectators at ERoCC and 30-40 rigs. This guys been around for MUCH longer and can only get 17 rigs and about 200 spectators, you tell me why? Two obstacles on the first day that no one completed (one no one got though the fist gate). One on the second day where no one completed it past the second gate. Another obstacle that only two got through the first set of gates after they were reset at a different spacing (a rock was moved and the cone was relocated inconsistent with original placement). Three more obstacles that only one person completed. The course design sucked and there was no attempt to pre-run any obstacles by Hazel or his crew. Bob Hazel and "sports in the rough" just did a terrible job.

looks like the comp was everything I expected it to be. I juggled around my schedule for 2 weeks so I could attend, and then Saturday morning I got a call and had to make an emergency trip to Muncie:mad: And Sunday was my little cousin's 4th b-day, so family comes first. Yeah, I got shafted big time...... but at least I can drool over the pics:flipoff2:

I've got something in the works to this same effect. I need some time to word everything properly though or it will come out very poignantly.

I wasn't very happy with "Sports-in-the-Rough's" job in this. Troy and all of his helpers did a spectacular job. I wish Troy could have run the show.

I emailed SITR asking what time the comp was going to start on Saturday. I was told 7:30am local Hoosier time. So I left Louisville, KY at 4:30am to make sure I was there in time to get to where the comp was being held, get a good spot to watch, check out some of the rigs before hand, etc.

When I got there, the gates to the park were closed. A few of the competitors showed up and went in to see what the deal was and came back. While we were still waiting, the SITR crew showed up. No one really knew what time the competition was starting. When spectators like me showed up, they didn't know what to do with us. Once I finally signed in and paid my fee, they told me there were signs to where parking would be.

We drove around for about 15 minutes looking for signs. We saw plenty of road signs, but none for parking. Just as we were about to head back to the park to really get directions, we saw someone putting up the "Competitors Only" and "General Parking" signs. We drove back down only to have NO CLUE where or how to get to the comp, so we walked back up the road and then followed the road the competitors used.

Once we got there, no one really knew what time anything was starting. Cones were out and people were standing around, but that was it.

This was the first comp I've attended and while it was nice to watch some killer rigs and drivers, and not have to fight for position to watch the action, I was disappointed with the scheduling. Hopefully when I get to Jellico, EEROC will make me happier to be there!

I hope so, too. :D

You should have come over to our campsite on Saturday night. We had a 102" screen T.V. and watched the Saturday action (or lack thereof in a lot of spots).

What, no dish? You missed a great Nascar race :D

You don't have to worry about that. I've heard from numerous multi-circuit competitors that ERoCC spoils them because of how well it's put together. I would wholeheartedly agree. I also respect your modest entry fees and suspect that with the addition of series sponsors the prize money will begin to grow. What's your thoughts on that?

No, the campsite next to us was listening to the race on their radio. Glad I didn't see it.

Rubbin' is racin', but when you do it within the window of the last 10 laps, it should be cheating! <not a Gordon fan>

Well, we definitely want to give you guys (and gals) more prize money. We have some things in the works for next year that may enable us to do just that.

I wish I could have stayed the night, but I had to get home so I could get things done around the house on Sunday without, 1) being a total inhuman beast and 2) gteting things done before noon.

When I come to Jellico it will be more than a day trip.
