: So I went out wheeling........
ForestCam 08-24-2002, 06:48 PM My buddy calls yesterday asking if I want to go out and play in the mud......well we get there and oh there's about 1000 people there watching everyone run.
Had a blast runnin around in the bog (sorry forgot the camera) but the last run before we decide to go home I'm coming out and hit this hole that swallowed the entire Toy, basically I hit the other side like a brick wall and it was even with the hood.
Got pulled out by my friend and steam was going everywhere! Damed radiator went into the fan. Well with a 5 gal jug of pond water in the bed and three stops to fill 'er up I made it home!:D
ForestCam 08-24-2002, 06:49 PM :)
ForestCam 08-24-2002, 06:50 PM Best part was that I finally got my wife to go wheeling!:D
Chief yelling alot 08-25-2002, 06:03 PM dont you mount your radiator
Lance 08-25-2002, 06:11 PM mud sucks. :flipoff2:
dirtrod 08-25-2002, 06:20 PM A electric fan from a Lincoln mounted to the radiator, solved a lot of problems for me.

Well it was mounted before I hit. I wish I had the camera 'cause everyone watching says all they could see of my truck the windshield.
Basically you could walk directly onto my hood with a slight step down. The mud went through the grille kinda like Playdogh in that press thing.
BTW I can't believe it but a bottle of Bars sealed 'er up which is good because I can't get another radiator untill Saturday and I gotta make a run to the Depot tomorrow.:)
dirtrod, you weren't out there were you? We were some place near Langsburg.

PTSchram 08-26-2002, 07:44 AM Marquette? Wish I could make it over Labor Day, but I'll be up in October lookin' for folks to wheel with. My camp (Schramsylvania) is in Turin township, just down the road from Big Bon's at McFarland.
Man, the world is small. Smaller still on the internet. Smaller still in the UP on the internet with four-wheelers.
Oh yeah, I'm not the guy with the same last name that has pissed off everybody in the township.

four_by_ken 08-26-2002, 07:54 AM You ever go to any of the Super Yooper runs in September?

PTSchram 08-26-2002, 08:46 AM No. living in Indiana, the shortest trip to get to the UP has been about 7.5 hours. Did spend nine days doing nothing but 'wheeling over the fourth, though. I used to get up there about five-10 times a year, but now that I'm married and running a shop and still keeping the dayjob, the trips have tapered off precipitously.
Funny, but after more than thirty years of going to the UP, I never knew that "Seasonal Road" was Yooper for a cool place to 'wheel!
I've been through a lot of the places down south. UP north, I've done the Keewenaw (what a crazy place-Miami 1900 miles that way!) and a lot of Marquette County, but not much else. Like to do day trips where we can get back to the camp for the night.
Over the fourth, the wildlife was incredible. Deer become very passe, but we did see a moose and a bear, and a handful of whooping cranes.
BTW- my dad's from Gladstone, I'm first generation non-yooper, but still have the roots.

ChevotaSS 08-26-2002, 08:50 PM the bog was held in lainsburgh.. which is kinda between lansing and flint off of I-69. ive never run the super yooper tour. but im going to the GITCHEE GUMMEE RUN in canada the second week in october. its gonna be a great run i think. alot of hard trails there. its only a half hour past Sault.ST. Marie. actually closer than marquette. the yooper tour this year is invite only. the Swamp Stompers 4x4 club that put it on are trying a new area and dont want to have a huge group. might cause a headache.
four_by_ken 08-27-2002, 05:09 AM I will have to miss Gummee, maybe. Might go as a passenger. We'll see. It is a GREAT time. Havnet made it myself, but all I hear is good stuff about it. You wont be disappointed. All kinds of wheeling.
What you said about the Yooper Tour is correct. We'll see what this fall brings.

ChevotaSS 08-27-2002, 05:03 PM Yeah i was talking to Roy Josephson at sand-o-rama about the yooper tour. because some of my clubs members are looking for a deep mud winching run in the U.P. and there afraid that theres to many rocks in canada for there fullsize mudboggers. so i think next year alot of the Mudhounds 4x4 club will be on the super yooper run when you guys decide the best place to run. i'll look forward to seeing ya at Gitchee GUmeee. i'll be in a toyota landcruiser. not sure what color yet. LOL.. im in the middle of ripping all my herculiner white exterior paint off . oops.. bad investment.
