NotQuiteSane 08-25-2002, 07:36 AM What the Fawk is up with all the newbies lately? They need to be going over here (http://www.binderbulletin.org) , but they end up here.
Old Scout, perhaps you're being too nice to them?

JoshC 08-26-2002, 08:04 PM The BB is great. I learned all sorts of things there. For instance... Did you know that you should set your timing to 10 when running an IH motor? Yeah, that's right, 10.
When you are a goddamn silly dumfuk newbie, you can learn all sorts of neat things there.
I really do love the BB. This however, is not the BB. :vader2: "Don't come round here no more" :skull:
Well... Don't ask dem ol lame ass questions dats been asked a thousand times anyhow.
Unless you are local! Then bring over a 12 pack of green apple and ask all the lame questions you want! :D

Exactly. the BB serves a great purpose. but over here is not the BB, and newbies need to realize that.

Old Scout 08-27-2002, 11:08 AM The punk asses we see now just don't get it. They think its the attitude you need to hang here. It not an attitude it gray matter and experience. We don't flame newbies we flame stupidity. When I first found POR in 1998 it was like a bar fight, you never knew what was going to be smashed over your head. The tech was unreal the knowledge base was first rate. Most of that has been watered down by all the DANs and many top notch fab guys and techies have moved on.
Anybody remember this?:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There seems to be some problems in the binder forum that the other forums have had in the past. Do we need to adopt rules like the other guys to keep things on track here? Are we going to let DAN's make this fourm :rainbow:
I stole a few of the other guys rules:
1. If you are a spineless dweeb that thinks that our style is crass and unfair, or that we are a bunch of insensitive, insulting, cheap bastards that would laugh our asses off at your missfortunes as you went through the box on the 'con. You're right. Develop thick skin, and an ability to dish it out, or go away. Remember this is the dark side.
2.The concept of this tech board is to create a wealth of OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO FIND technical information and technical experience and expertise relating to 4wd Binders. If what you are about to post doesn't further that specific cause, don't post it here.
3.just because you have a Binder does not mean you belong on pirate4x4.com
4. If you have a tech question, 99.9% of the time it has already been discussed here, so stop thinking that you are special, and original, and really use the search function, don't just start every stupid post with " I did a search".
Search, do it, learn it, live it!
5.Highest gear allowed is 4.09 , smallest tire is 33"
6. Don't whine about body damage!
7.Dont post pics of your lame ass stock binder , with chrome wheels on 31's. We see them on the road all day long!
8. sawzall, learn it, live it, love it.
9.This is college level Tech. Don't ask kindergarten level questions.
10. Welcome! Come in, sit down, shut up….stay a while. We are wheelin' fanatics. We like to wrench and wheel our Binders. We like to share too, but are a bit picky about it. Your silent ignorance of our world will be accepted. However, a showing of stupidity on your part will earn you a cold shoulder. Visit and absorb what goes on here, and when you feel comfortable, post up some of your own ideas….learn, but share. You'll come to like the camaraderie.
jdjanda 08-27-2002, 11:14 AM Try as you may it's near impossible to bring some of the DAN's into the light.
Stop answer the DAN questions and they'll get the hint, which we are all guilty of.
ahhh I miss those days, I also miss feeling like I wanted to honestly answer technical questions because they were well thought out before being asked. :rolleyes:
Well thought out questions? what a concept :flipoff2:
Maybe we need to write up a page like this (http://tuxedo.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html) , and have it be required reading before posting.
I remember when I first arrived it was all the guys up North who dominated this board right? I think the first post I ever read was Scoutillac and Old Scout and a bunch of other guys working on a 3 day long WAR thread with some JU faaags. I knew then that this was the place for me! :rolleyes: :flipoff2: :skull:
It's not just the tech though. I have met a number of good friends from this board... And there is nothing better than bullshitting with some friends while you are supposed to be working. :beer:
Scouter 08-28-2002, 01:48 PM The people on the BB are where the Jeep guys were in 1978.
Anyone can have and drive a stock vehicle. Big deal! When you learn how to mix and match parts for function and durability and you have the required talent to fab it all together a whole new world opens up...Welcome to pbb:vader2:
Just to clarify rebuilding a Trash Loc or painting your frame does not qualify :flipoff2:
DAMNNN
I rebuilt my trash loc and painted my frame - I must be a DAN.
And here I was going to get the beast running and see how the other half lives - behind the drivers seat.
