Be for I start, Yes, I took the time to do a fawking search :flipoff2:

Now On the the "issue" I started a flat top conversion on my 83' Cj7 and ran in to a Problem, After getting the knuckle on I noticed I have no place to bolt the calipers to!! Duh!

As you can see in the picture, The CJ on the Left has two holes to mount the brake bracket on the upper right side, but the new flat top one doesn't... WTF! am I missing something here??

it's called a caliper mounting bracket....that is what you are missing.

Is it different than the orginal cj7 Bracket? How does it mount to the knuckle??

The caliper will probably have to be changed out to go with your new caliper mounting bracket. The mounting bracket will bolt on with the spindle.

yep, you need to get new backing plates, caliper brackets, calipers, etc. Stock cj stuff won't work.

dodge flat top knuckles have bungs in them for brakes, they MIGHT work, but I doubt it.

sounds like you need the usual recipe of ford hubs and rotors, pre 77 spindles, chevy/wagoneer backing plates and calipers, chevy/ford/wagoneer/dodge lockout hubs

on the plus side you'll get rid of those crappy external lockout hubs that seem to pop off the side of the jeep at the worst possible moment.

throw in some custom axle shafts that'll hold a 297 ujoint and you'll have the beefiest dana 30 out there :flipoff2:

when doing this swap, do you also have to get new outer axle shafts? I would think yes but am not sure.

Thanks, Phil:usa:

yeah, you'll need them, not sure what you'd want it off of though. something with 260 ujoints, chevy or maybe early wagoneers. I think you can use an early bronco outer, but you'd need to rig it a little and use a bolt and washer instead of a snap ring.
