I'd have to agree with Mike. I wouldn't mind seeing the 4.5L in a half ton...

Once upon a time you could... back in the mid 80's Ford sold diesel rangers (Escorts too). I had an 85 Escort Diesel and the damn thing would get around 55-60 MPG Highway bad part about it was it only had 52 HP. I miss that car........ Too bad they didn't sell

That motor is a Land Rover 300TDi bored out (might be stroked I forgot) with a varible vein turbo.

No fooling. Rover sold the rights to international and international is now making it in brazil.

Wicked amount of torque for such a small motor.

I work for an International dealer up here. Quite awhile ago at a meeting we were told about some of the new engines to come out. I have seen and driven the new v-8 that is comming out in the new fords sometime soon. We were told this fall. It is a vt365 in our trucks. Very torquey little engine. We were also told once this engine has been out for awhile they will bring out the v6 which will be built for smaller suv's. That engine will be availible here and in the States.

You'll find it in there somewhere. I'm pretty sure it's a "go."

LOL!

I talked to the guy at cross lander. He is sending me the packet. Maybe I can get the place here to be a dealer. They are targeting the agricultural market.

IFS front though which sucks.

Maybe I can just buy a crate engine :)

It looks like it'll happen in 2003 if those reports are accurate. No it won't be a 250SD or 350SD, but compared to a V8 Gasser 1/2 ton, I bet it would be killer. Hell the HP is better then the 5.9L in my Ram 1500, and I bet that 415 ft/lb torgue the kicks the 5.9L ass too.

Question would be: would be it a lot more affordable, VS just plunking down the $$$ for a 250SD?

Yeah, i also heard rumors of a diesel Hybrid ram 1500 to come out sometime... but who knows when. I am still thinking of putting a 3.9l 4cyl cummins in my 1500 ram with the 318 goes. And are they actually going to be able to bring the croslander over here? They tried it before, but with the ARO name, and it never happened because there are too many laws in the US about what has to be in cars (safety standards- Air bags and what not) that it would be so expensive to put it all in, that the truck would be more expensive than most SUV's on the market today. That is why it didnt go into production for here.. so i wannt know, how are they going to be able to do it now?
