: Gun for wife
Tyrod 02-17-2009, 10:05 AM Hey,
We have been having some problems w/ a stalker that has been calling and talking nasty to my wife and she is finally convinced that she should learn how to shoot my guns. So for her birthday I am gonna look at getting her a pistol of her own so that she can feel comfortable shooting. I know she will not want to shoot my .45 so I am looking for something small to get her started. Any suggestions, I was looking at a Bersa in .380, a Taurus in .22, or a maybe some type of .32. Thanks
take her to a range that rents them. let her try everything.
Somebody 02-17-2009, 10:16 AM See how she likes a .38 revolver
Tyrod 02-17-2009, 10:17 AM I'm in the UP of Michigan, I don't know if one even exists anywhere around here! Good idea though, I will see if there are any around.

Sturgell 02-17-2009, 10:28 AM I would try a Taurus 85 or smaller 380 or 9mm. The revolver would get my nod though, not a lot to go wrong and not a lot to learn about using them.
kwrangln 02-17-2009, 10:42 AM First off, both of you sit down and read the link in the following thread.

Then hit a range with that information in mind, try out a bunch of different guns and make a decision.
Never Monday 02-17-2009, 10:44 AM one of the best sites on the topic I've ever read.
Tyrod 02-17-2009, 10:55 AM Good site, thanks.

SilverZuk 02-17-2009, 11:21 AM My wife shoots a 1911 with no problems.
whatafkwasat 02-17-2009, 11:32 AM for christmas I got my wife a private lesson at a local indoor range with a gun rental (22 simi) and 50 rounds. She tried a revolver as well and said she liked the revolver better and was a better shot with it, it was under $100 and she still has range time left.
she has never shown any interest in firearms, but yesterday told me she wants a rifle. :D
Pt_Ranger_V8 02-17-2009, 11:40 AM 38 or 357 hammerless revolver.
Very nice, very easy to use. Squeeze the trigger, over and over
Vermin 02-17-2009, 12:30 PM I guess I could stop calling her.. but she really seems to like it!
Can't believe you guys passed this opportunity up! I agree on a .38 revolver
Blue Chip 02-17-2009, 12:43 PM For what it's worth I made the mistake of getting my wife a .38 hammerless airweight before actually having her shoot it. It was supposed to be her cc gun.
After shooting my PPS (9mm) she we ended up getting her one as well. She cc's with the 6 round mag.
She fugging hated the airweight.
Myanarchy 02-17-2009, 12:55 PM I would get her something that would not fire reliably and was not accurate for when she gets pissed off at you

Can't blame her. I had a friend loan me one for a week.
Great to carry, no fun to shoot. Recoil was stiff with standard 38 loads.

:lmao: good advise there ;)
my first pistol was a POS Star .380 then I moved to the S&W snubby .357. so far i've only shot .38's out of it but I love that little gun.
My gf that I thought would be the LAST person on the planet to get gun friendly decided to get one 2mos ago. They went to the range for her to shoot a bunch of different guns and she picked the 9mm and LOVES it.
