I had to ditch my rear tank when I shortened my frame, so Im down to the front ~20gal tank. Thats not really enough for a weekend wheeling trip, as I could burn both tanks plus a couple 5 gallon cans pretty easy before.
So I was looking at it last night, and I dont see any reason why I couldnt run another tank next to the factory one. Ive already redone the fuel lines and wiring, and left provisions for a second tank, so that wont be a big deal.
It looks like I would have to cut one notch in the rear body mount bracket for the front strap, bracket that holds the rear strap already has one.
The exhaust is rerouted, so its not a problem.
The fuel filler would be kinda wierd too, but it would still be better than 6 jerry cans.

Anyone seen this done before, or see any problems with doing it?

why not mount it on the opposite frame rail like Chevys do? possibly look into a bronco tank? I'm not familiar with your rig, so I'm only guessing.

As long as you won't have driveshaft clearance issues there should be no issues with putting another tank opposite the stocker, I'd definatley want to run one of the longer skinnier 19 gallon long bed ones, but, I don't see it being that much of an issue. Run the filler out to the pass side like an Older Chebby, and all should be OK.
Another option would be to mount a Bronco tank above he frame, one of my wheelin buddys has one in his Yota mounted that way, it works pretty slick, and it's about the same capacity as the pair of stockers on a F-Truck are.

arent the broncos 36 gallon? ive never had to fill my parts bronco tank. :laughing:
