When I first got my 81 yota 6 years ago I was happy with a detroit in the rear, 33" BFG mudders and a 4" suspension lift for a couple years.
Now I have detroit Hi-Pinion front, spooled rear, rear springs up front, Hy-steer, 4.56 gears, 4.3L v6, th350, dual cases, 36x14.50-15 TSL's and soon to be 63" chevies in the rear.
Sorry about your luck but its gonna cost you some money from here on out! I'm preaching here, But "DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME"!! The search button here is invaluable, buy a red star too. If you cant afford it dont half ass it, just save your money untill you can do it right!!! You'll be happier in the end.

I have a question for the yota crew. It seems like (and I don't follow it real closely, but) a lot of guys building these rigs favor using a longer leaf spring for the rear. Why not do coils? Just because of the more design and fabrication work?

x2!
My first suspension lift was a rough country and it rode like shit! I now have a 6 leaf set of rears up front and the crappy rough country AAL in the rear. Hence why im going to put the chevies in the rear. If your weekend weeling it there are plenty of companies out there that provide high quality lift kits for a decent price!
I cant tell you which one is better than the other because everyone has their own opinions but it is a "you get what you pay for deal". Marlin has a nice lift kit for a pretty penny, but its a hysteer lift kit combo. Would more than likely be enough for most weekend wheelers out there!
