: My '03 PSD 6speed F350
TJpwr 08-25-2002, 05:17 PM Got to the dealer about 3 weeks ago. I have not had a chance to take a pic until now. Had been on order for about 8 weeks prior to that. It's the first '03 that the dealer knew of in the bay area. I love this truck. Tows like a dream. It's really nice to now be able to tow up grades and hold speeds or acelerate up them in top gear most of the time. The brakes kick ass. Sure beats towing with the F150 like I was. Just thought I'd share. Shitty pic but thats it.
Phil
Nice oil burner:smokin:
Is the 03 still the 7.3L PSD????????

The 6.0L will be out mid model year '03. All of the current PSDs are 7.3L.

There you have it. At first I read the 6.0 will start in the 2003.25s but now I hear that it was pushed back...

Not much that I can tell...the FX4 package is new to the 'dutys:rolleyes: I have a drivers side grab handle and the "blue oval" on the steering wheel is now blue. I think the fabric for the seats is new. Oh and now all the F350s have a Dana 60 up front not a 50. Can someone back this up because I'm not totally sure.
Phil
KS Toy 08-25-2002, 08:03 PM Great truck man! I am sure you will be more than happy with it. FORDS kick butt.
WheelingPiazza 08-26-2002, 04:16 AM Nice Truck. What dealer did you go through?
I just got my 02 a couple of weeks ago and Love it.

the 350s always had a D60. The F250 had a D50 until 02 (i think that's when it started) when they started putting a D60 in them too.

Phil, beautiful SD. Hard for me to tell is the color dark gray? So what is the FX4 package?
I told my wife this weekend that we had to buy an SD F-350 PSD before Jan 2003. She was :( but said okay anyway.
Does any one have any idea for the last date to order the present PSD before the 6.0 comes out? Hate to ask dealer you how they can be a PIA.

Yes dark grey. I love it. As far as I know the FX4 package is just the new "offroad" package. RS5000s and maybe one more skidplate. Oh and don't forget that sticker...
Phil
nobody20 08-26-2002, 02:17 PM Phil, thanks for the info. Your rig really kicks ass. I'd like to get dark grey too, but I think it would suck in Phoenix where I'm moving to. White is probably the only reasonable color of choice for me. Love those refrigarators.
I am real interested in the 6 spd and how it works out. I have been contemplating the stick manual issue. My 88 F-350 4x4 had 5 spd which I liked but my wife said it hurt her arm.
Keep us posted on fuel milage over the next few months. I'd like to know what to expect.

Dulies did, but the SRW F350 and I think even the SD F250 got them in 02.
WheelingPiazza 08-27-2002, 05:53 AM mines an 02 SRW f350 and its got the sixty up front.
My understanding of the FX package is basiclly the Off-road package of 02 but the shocks are now branded rancho.
The is suttle differences in the 03 vers the 02, Grab handle on the drives side, oval steering wheel, different color schemes, FX package.
From my understanding, the new motor wont be out to late 2002, like december if not at all this year. They wont even order them right now till november.
I got mine at friendly ford(dont ever go there)
its an 02 six speed blah blah blah..
nobody20 08-29-2002, 07:37 AM Look at you posted picture everday and wish that your rig was in my driveway.:)

nobody20 10-22-2002, 08:07 AM So how is the new PSD? Still like it? Any features/options you got you don't like? Any features/options that you didn't get that you wish that you did?

well the 3 months i've had mine and the 13k i've put on it i've had some massive headaches and some harsh dealing's with ford, finally got the problem's solved and i could not be happier with the truck!
there's a few thing's i've noticed that were different from my 01, first off the steering's not as good on my 02, and the front unit bearin's are failing already.... warrenty item's but i have a feeling this will lead to another pattern

The '99 & '00 SRW F350's had a 50 front, possibly the '01s too.

Were the massive headaches mechanical?

I would wait for the 6.0. I had the opportunity to drive one, it spanked my 99 7.3 PSD in acceleration.

My '01 SRW F350 has the 50 front. I was disappointed when I saw all the '01s did, but it was a heck of a lot better than my 1/2 ton chevy I had before.

So does my buddies Duramax but I would have to wait a long time to see how the durability is for it before I would own one. IMHO I still would not own one because they are not enough truck for me. To much car. Same with this new International engine I would have to wait a long time to see how they hold up reving so high. But thats just me.

Phil, so how is the new PSD? Still like it? Any features/options you got you don't like? Any features/options that you didn't get that you wish that you did?
TJpwr 10-27-2002, 04:16 PM I still totally love the truck. I would not have done anything different if I ordered it again. The one thing I hate and that is the seat belt warning buzzer thing. I fawking hate it! Anyone know how to disarm it? Also is there a way to be able to start the truck with out putting in the clutch? I know on my TJ I just bipassed the switch but I'll bet the SD is a little more involved.
Thanks, Phil
BlueYJ 10-28-2002, 08:17 AM Phil, I second that opinion on the seat belt buzzer. I got my 03 about 4 weeks ago, 5k miles on it I absolutly love the thing. It comfortably seats 6 people in it, rides pretty nice and to me it doesnt get much better then that.
Somebody asked about fuel milage, I get about 13-14 towing and 16-17 empty on the freeway but this has been with the air on and empty runing about 75-80mph. This is a kick ass truck. I got mine at Shamrock Ford in Dublin talk to Janet. They where an awsome dealership not to mention a absolute kick ass price that no one came close to.
BlueYJ
Phil, i saw you towing you junk down 85 a while ago. I think youwere getting off on Santa Tersa or Blossom Hill?
I also drove by your house the other day. We were looking at houses in Redwood Est.
Come over an tow me somewhere:p
Chewbacca 10-29-2002, 11:21 PM there used to be a procedure to turn that annoying buzzing off in the owners manual...at least it was in the windstar van i was given for a rental car...
hth
LeviGarrett76 10-30-2002, 06:27 AM i have the habit of just reaching down and pressing in the release for the seatbelt...i dont even think about it now
For the seat belt annoyer - you have 2 options.
1) Press the seat belt release button down for about 10 seconds. That will kill the warning until you restart the truck.
2) For a more permanent solution look in the manual - or check out this link

spudwrench 11-01-2002, 06:00 PM pull off the cover under the steering column. look up to the right of the column and find a connector that has a black/pink wire. take connector apart and remove this wire. if you have the right one the buzzer will sound if you ground this wire. tape it up and forget about it.
TJpwr 11-02-2002, 08:30 PM Thanks everyone.
Vova, yeah I was stoping buy a friends house and then off to the event in Placerville. Give me a call some time. We still should go riding. 489-2536
