thanks for not answering the question!
I quess you just don't know!
The reason for this is I lost some of my drive shaft length when I did the AW4 conversion. I'd make it up and more by going with the D300.
I was planning on going with Atlas II until I saw that artice on JU board (notice my replies there). It is alot cheaper to go with the D300.

I don't have a 300 in my XJ, but I do know for a fact that its simply not gonna bolt up, Jesus.:shaking:

And you've basically answered your own question:

man, if you have seen that post on JU, then you know you just can't "bolt" a dana 300 up. that is unless your front diff is on the passenger side. you'll at least have to drill a couple holes, and build a shifter linkage. might as well buy the down east offroad kit. its increadable!

He just answered your fawking question................. If it worked you wouldn't be able to buy a Dana 300 for less than a fawking atlas.

Obviously you need a flip kit and oblong at least two stud holes in the trans. I guess I need to post the obvious for the idiots.

I put an AW4 in my TJ and would like to have a longer drive shaft.
If you don't know the answer then shut the **** up!:flipoff2:
I thought this board was for more than keyboard off roaders.

Again do all D300 have the same spline count on the input shaft?Scratch

How cute... :shaking:

Look sport, follow that link back to JU and http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/images/sendpm.gif or email the guy that dropped it in and ask him these "too hard for web-wheeler" questions. I'm done.

BTW, I've revoked your privelages to use this :flipoff2: guy.

i love it when newbies try and act badass :shaking:
simple answer- its been discussed SEARCH, it comes out being a little(not much) less than an atlas since you need flip kit and other shit to make it work

dont just go after people trying to sound sarcastic and pissy, it dont work like that:rolleyes:

here's a more gentler answer :flipoff2:

Depends on the front axle you have, and which version AW-4 you installed. Also depends on which Dana 300 you're talking about. Jeep or IH.

So, here's the facts:
Jeep dana 300: 23 spline input shaft, 6 bolt cuircular pattern
IH Dana 300: bull gear design with 6 bolt texas style pattern
Both drop on the wrong side for a stock YJ, TJ or XJ so swap the front end like I did on my YJ.

Early model AW-4 (full time 4wd) is 21 spline input
Late model AW-4 (NP231 version) is 23 spline input.

Next time try searching and keeping your mouth shut when people answer. Get a fawking clue.

The internet is a wonderous place full of knowledge and wisdom.
You obviously have not discovered most of it yet...so let me help you.

You can read and write, right?...go to it!

If you are having problems reading...there are lots of pretty pictures here.... http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=dana+300+&sa=N&tab=wi

Way to start off ass Scratch...next time don't be such a dick and maybe you'll get a nicer response.

thanks Grendel that is what I was looking for.
So I take it there wasn't a 4 cylinder version like the there is a four cyl version of the 231 that has a lower spline count.

Well, I'd have to say that reading the above posts just made me realize that this board is getting dumber....

His original questions pertained to spline count..and all you stupid mutha-fawkers decided that he didn't know what side hhis axle was one, or would have to deal with shifters, etc...

FAWK people..get a clue! ..Spline count= college level question.

I guess it must be a Jeep thing..I don't understand!:flipoff2:

Do all D300 have the same input shaft spline count?
I tried posting this on the Pirate board but the freaking idiots over there can't answer a question without pissing on you first. I guess no one over there knew. Did they put these in four cylinders with a different spline count like on TJ 231s?
Thanks

Edit:
Searching would have yielded:
d-44 into XJ swap options? (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52643&highlight=d300+spline+count)

np 231 to a d300 (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52360&highlight=d300+spline+count)

th400 mate to Dana300 (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43847&highlight=d300+spline+count)
