Can someone measure and tell me how far apart your bender arms are? I'm looking for measurements on both sets, base and die arms. I had arms made and built my own bender, but I'm about to re-build it and wondered what the 'normal' measurements are.

That's what I've done. I have the plans, cut them out, drilled them, made spacers and have it bolted together. It works great.
I'm about to re-do the stand and my base arms are 4" apart. I was hopping someone could measure the space between the arms so I can set it up 'correctly' like a JD2. I want to make them a bit narrower, but if they won't fit all of JD2's dies and followers, I don't want to have to do it all over again.

i must have read your first post wrong. your asking how far apart the two alike arms are? if so i would think that as close to the die as you can get them would be the best and the strongest.

3-3/4" between the main arms
2-5/8" between the swing bar arms

Cool thanks. I didn't want to make it fit my 1.5" die and then buy a bigger one and not have it fit.
I'm going to be re-building it like the ProBender.

Willis can you send me the plans for the bender that you did before? I am looking to build my own in the spring and want to build the simplest horizontal bender I can.
Never mind I did some reasearch and found the jd2 is verticle not horizontal.
