What trail do you think is the hardest in the east?I'm not talking about hillclimbs,I'm talking about hard, continuous, rockcrawling.

WFO, Choccolocco mnt. Not really long, but pretty damn tuff with one hell of a finish.

Lion's Den at Harlan. Not really difficult, but very technical..imo..

Not sure if it's still there or not(been 4 years) but Beasley's Knob had a trail to the left just out of the parking lot on the Hiawasee side. Best I remember there were several 4 and 5 foot ledges solid rock like a poured basement wall, with a bunch of loose basketball size rocks for trail between them. I was on a 4 wheeler but it took us about 3 hours to get 7 of us up it pretty much picking the wheelers up at each ledge. Iv'e been threatening to take my rig back up there but I think that trail may be closed off.

My opinion is Chinquipin ORP in sneedville has the hardest technical rock crawling trails.. And yes there is a trail through there that winds back and forth over the 20 acres filled with very technical stuff.. That place is awesome.. It's not a hill climb type of place either.. Atleast not yet. They might find some back in the other section if they open it up.

Harlan has one trail, Your Turn, that I only know of a few people that have run successfully. Another trail there, Underestimated, has not been made by anyone. Personally, I don't see anyone making it until more people start running it and knock some off the ledge at the top.

I'd say Rattle rock is definitely one of the tougher ones in the east, Rail Trail is no joke either.

rattle rock is pretty nice... but, i live in caryville we go there all the time. on a good day, we can do RR from the bottom to the top in 1 hr! on a bad day... bring the camping gear!

but yeah rail trail can be exciting as well, especially the climb coming out of the creek bed, ive seen ONE of our group make it up w/o winching! and ive watched attempts by competition $100,000 rock buggys that end up winching! been there a few dozen times. truely NASTY!

but, my vote would have to be either "tailgate" or "your turn" in harlan.

Not a trail but....

The little jagger @ Harlan was the nastiest obstacle I have been on . The one and only time I have been there was on a wet snowy weekend and we did a night run . I almost rolled it at the top and was smart enough to back down . I was Denied :mad3: . I have seen a few buggies go up it on Youtube but it looked alot easier than it did at night with rain and snow pooring down on my open top and the top washed out . It had a river of mud pooring down as well .

Now closed due to the close proximity to a bird sanctuary but the hardest trail in the SE was Sheetmetal Falls just south of Monteagle Tn. Only a handful of trucks have even attempted it and no has made it unassisted. The last one to try peeled back his entire pass body from the door to the tailgate winching out. It is a long rocky creek bed climbing the entire way ending in a 6 ft falls with no way around.

Brent Mann from Trailworks wanted to call it Passenger Door, because the first truck to try it only had a passenger door that was straight when he got out. Maybe Brent still has some pics when it was open.

You also have 52 at Offroad Mayhem. only a few people have done the left side. Most go to the right get hung up then have to take the bypass way right to get out. I'm not saying that people can't do it, but the left side is tough. Maybe EOR can get some good video at there Rock Race. I saw a few from the other races that they have had but can't find them now.

Golden mountain is off of 40 East the Sparta/Livingston exit. It has some very challenging trail and think there has only been a couple of people to go up Bounty Hill. I have a competition buggy and I won't try it. I am not really into death wheeling, but if you have the balls to try it I will watch. If it is wet there are a lot of trails that are just about impassible. I road with a guy there last weekend that was from North Carolina. He was scouting trails for his club and he said he had been to a lot of parks around the area but this was one of the best parks he had been to.

I just got back from harlan yesterday and we found the both of those trails. They are off of trail #11. Basically the top of "your turn" is the opposite side of the trail from the bottom of crawfords cry. Even though it is not marked the bottom of "Underestimated" is about 100 ft from the bottom of "your turn". If you are starting up "your turn" look to your left and you will see the bottom of "underestimated". We did get copies of the new maps which show both these trails. New maps were available at the chevron on the left just before you get into evarts. Hope this helps.

Like I said I am not really into death wheeling. Maybe when I was younger or if I had enough money that I didn't care if I rolled it 13 times. I don't mind rolling it as long as I don't flip so much that I can't drive it out.

No we did not get to run them this time, but next time when there is not a river of water coming down them you can bet that I will be giving them a try. Call me a chicken if you want but i am just not into breaking on a trail i don't know in 2 feet of raging water. Next time maybe you will have your project finished and I can follow you to the top.

Harlan has some nasty trails, never seen Your Turn or Underestimated though. The hardest ones I have seen are Rail Trail (just after the creek). Travis was the only dude in our group to make it. I have heard that many full bodied rigs don't wanna ride Mayhem in Viola, TN because it is so hard. Also, The Wall and Hell's Revenge at Choccolo Mtn in Jacksonville, AL are really hard.

The Wall is just insane.

Sorry I'm late to see this, but I know where you are talking about. We were at the fall crawl last October. We started out on Crawford's Cry, made it to the top but got denied the last ledge. It was pretty wet but a fun trail. I know exactly where you are talking about now with Your Turn. After Crawford's we circled around to the bottom at started up it. I think we went on the trail to the left at the bottom, which sounds like Underestimated. Everyone in my group was denied this trail. I broke my R&P and had to front wheel out. (14bolt since then added). There are a lot of tough obstacles in a close area here. Will definitely be visiting it this spring, probably on memorial day weekend.

Do you have any pics of while you were there?

Every time I go to Harlan I find more cool stuff and it sounds like more is being unveiled. I can't wait this place has unlimited potential.

rattle rock is pretty tough, but it is by far the hardest trail....fun though! Rail trail is badass, the last big rock section coming out of the creek is crazy, we were there last month, washed out, wet and muddy. good times.

Harlan...wow. badass trails everywhere and if it rains, the moderate stuff becomes hard. only trails I have done there are: Upper rock garden/Can opener, middle and lower rock garden, lower damnation, Big Perm/Bruiser, Mason Jar, and Rail Trail. of course there are all the little trails to get to those big name ones. I am definately looking forward to that place again so I can try some of the new trails that are open, along with some of the ones I have missed.
