Hello all,

I'm in the middle of my SM465 install on my FJ60, and am starting to think now about the rear crossmember. I'm using AA adapter which has bolt-holes for a new crossmember. What I'm interested in seeing how you attached it to the frame, and what materials you used.

Got pics? :D

Dave you should have looked at Yeller when you were at the shop, here's a look at the one I made for the NV4500 conversion, both are made from 2X2 square tubing, on Yeller I wanted it as high as possible so I cut a 4" section of pipe and notched it for the front t case output.
Both are bolted into the sides of the frame, I don;t like sing bolts into the bottom since we sheared all of them off once on the trail......

Here is the one that I made for my Scout..but pretty universal.

Edit: I had not drilled the mounting holes in it at this point..

1) my feets are purty!

2) Things are boring everywhere...and, I have enough non-IH parts to qualify to post everywhere!:flipoff2:

2) Small wrangler leafspring bushings with 1.75 x .250 DOM tubing.;)

Butch -

Quick Q -

I have the AA style Tcase x-member, but I have been thinking about adding a x-member to either the adapter ot the tranny itself.

Q is:

Looks like you used a poly mount. What brand? and why not rubber? Costs?

Any reason I souldn't run both x-members?

TIA,

Jim

Its an Energy Suspension part, got it at the local O Reilly's, it is a GM of some variety. Had to slot the holes for it to work, the idiots at AA could not sell me a mount, or give a reason for the spacing they used on the holes in the pad, we tried about 20 different mounts and none lined up perfect.
As far as adding another, you are talking about the wing mount that bolts to the rear of the t case?
I would add them to the bell housing, like factory.... the Zebe (the FJ40 we won that Rainey Kirk built) has these.

This is what I did on mine...The mount isn't visible in this shot-It's just above and back from where the skid rails attach from the motor cradle. The traction bar attaches at the left rear.

I already have the AA style Xmember attached to the 3 speed tcase. I have custom mounts on the 350. I was thinking about adding the xmember to either the 465 or the AA adapter between the case an tranny to take some of the weight & torque load off the tcase.

More is better right?

What is the PN on the mount you used?
