These pics are from sunday's competition. (http://pages.prodigy.net/coolmank/pics/prorocks)
> Mike Smythe (sp?) I believe him to be a local cheesehead. (legends class)
> some dude in the legends class
> TJ legends dude flopping
> ... bringing him back over
> the aftermath
> Currie's red TJ (not the fireant) in the legends class
> again
> Chris Durham lining up ...
> ... and gettin' some.
> While trying to get off this boulder ...
> ... he had a violent roll. It shook him pretty good, but everyone and everything was fine in the end. Carnage: one hose clamp lost on the fuel filter ...
> ... and a busted hood.
> Ken Shupe lining up for the same boulder that Chris was high centered on.
> Ken took a "different" line.
> again
> BigDude earning his keep.
> Ken checking on cone clearance. ProRocks rules dictate that if you so much as glance a cone (rig or spotter) you are done with the obstacle ... more cmk commentary on that later.
> Interior of Ken's buggy ... minimalistic huh?
> Some dude (from OK?) was running a Bubba' fabbed buggy powered by a Mazda rotary (wankel) engine. At every steep climb, it would belch out a dense smokescreen that netted him the nickname "West Nile Annihilator."
> Chris again
> Bryan Hamilton. He put on the best show short of Chris'.
> Bryna again.
> Ken lining up for an obstacle that only one dude made it through without punching that cone. That dude did it by riding the winch cable the entire way from start to finish.
> Ken again
> and again ...
> ... and again.
> This is the dude with the wankel motor and Mog axles ... really odd combination; no torque whatsoever, but gobs of ground clearance.
> again
> Here he's in the process of getting ...
> ... really stuck. He couldn't get out of this and had to be winched off the obstacle.
> Chris putting on a show again ...
> ... and getting those MT/R's good, hot, and sticky.
> The show never ended with that dude.
> Ken makes the obstacles look easy.
> Ken backing through a pair of cones.
> While driving forward, he had to stop and back up a few inches. A few inches turned into a few too many when he couldn't get the rig back into gear fast enough and it slipped too far backward, punching a cone.
> BigDude, Timmy (Chris' spotter) and Ron (?) prepping the start of an obstacle.
> Chris crawling and not racing. It's a rare sight.
> ... crawling
> ... crawling
> ... racing
> ... crawling
> I didn't get any shots of this trio of gates, but Chris put on a seriously hellacious show of bonzai'ing up a gnarly hill of boulders, making every gate cleanly. That run garnished him the biggest ovation from the crowd out of the weekend.
> Bryan again.
> Bryan laid his Cruiser completely on its side. Right before the motor quit ...
> ... he drove out of it (self righted the rig) and continued on.
> And tried to one-up Chris' bonzai show. Unfortunately, he got a bad bounce ...
> ... and went over. The blown bead he suffered on the previous gate probably didn't help matters any.
> Once again, Ken making things look entirely too easy.
> Unfortunately, the right rear tire slipped off the rock it's on and landed on the cone.
> Bryan on the final obstacle of the day ... far too easy for dudes of this caliber.
> ... coming down from the top of the obstacle.
> Ken going up the same one.
> Ken & BigDude riding down.
I'll have more commentary on the weekend and ProRocks to come.
