Im looking into getting a 2004 Grand Cherokee for a DD/ family wheeler. What I have found tonight was an 04 overland edition with a v8 and quadratrac. It was dark at the dealership so I couldnt tell what axles were under it. Are they just a typical dana 30/35, or were there other options? Next, is it a big deal to swap out the quadratrac trans case for a np231? And third? how much lift will it take to clear 35's without alot of trimming. Also can you run 15 inch rims on these, i think the factory rims are 17's. thanks guys!!

1: Likely a D30/8.25.
2: Yeah, probably a big deal. As in hole in the floor deal, routing cables, etc etc. I don't think the 231 came in the BubbleJ Grands..your t-case lever is up top next to the shifter on the right side, right? Totally different spot. It'll take fab work just to get the shifter linkage correct.
3: A lot. Takes 6" or so to clear 33's without trimming.
4: not sure....take a look at how much clearance you have between your brake calipers and inside of the wheels and multiply by two, that's how much smaller you can go without grinding.

Glad to help!

30 front, Funky 44 rear
231 is almost a bolt in, need shifter and bezel front 6 cyl selecttrac model
4" lift fits 32" with minor trimming
6" fits 33"
8" and lots of trimming for 35", fenders aren't 35" long
15" wheels have too much offset, stay with 16" or 17"

I don't think the 04's had the aluminum D44...did they?
