I have been trying to order a tap for 3 weeks and every place I have ordered from has dropped the ball.

I need a 1.25" diameter 12 TPI RH tap this weekend. I need it to machine two aluminum links, it will be done by a pro machinist on a lathe. If anyone has one let me know. I live in Bergen County NJ and the shop is in Orange County NY, Middleton area. I will be down by englishtown NJ tonight and back and forth between my apartment and Orange Co. all weekend. If anyone has one they can lend me for a day, please post up!

A "pro" machinist should be able to cut the threads without a tap. Must be a "semi-pro". :flipoff2:

its not worth the time to make a tool that will cut such a fine thread when a tap is less than $10. a tap is a calibrated tool, just drill a hole and your ready to rock. atempting to make this thread on the ID of a piece of aluminum and making a tool to do so would be a waist of time.

I ended up buying one of the $50 ones. It's sitting right here, will be fine to thread 4 holes.

Industrial Boys out on Long Island. They goofed up on the order and the tap showed up literally as I was walking out the door to fly to KOH but I'm going to have the links machined this weekend hopefully.

I've had very good luck with Mcmaster-Carr in NJ.
I'd place an order say, monday and the stuff would be at my door tuesday.
I looked in their catalog and they had the tap you needed.
So in the future (if you havent already dealt with them), give'm a try. They have good customer service too.
