I would like to post about a new trail opportunity in Northern Minnesota. A surprise in these days of land closures to be sure! The Northern Minnesota Jeepers have been working for years on a grant in aid trail, and it is now in the public review stage. They are looking for e-mails in support of this trail proposal. All the proposal info and contact info can be found here http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/input/mgmtplans/ohv/mesabi_mountain.html

If anyone here is familiar with off roading in Mn they will know this trail could be the start of something great! We need all the help we can get here. If we could get as much support as possible that would be great! The deadline is 4:00 on the 27th. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

This would be the very FIRST grant-in-aid trail for Trucks in Minnesota!
("Trucks" as in ORV's)

The Minnesota jeep community has tried several times to get these type of trails, always failed.
This current one has been on going for over 10 years!
The NMJ have done great work keeping this going.

This trail is very close to the OHV park in Gilbert, MN.

Hey everyone!
I am a member of the club (Northern Minnesota Jeepers) which is sponsoring this first ever GIA trail in Minnesota.
This is truly a significant advancement in our state!
The trail will rival what I have seen in the hills or Superlift or even Paragon.
All natural ledge rock from hard to "Oh My God!"
Since we are all brothers in a way...all wanting more trails I think that this could be good for more than just Minnesota but as an example of how someday this whole off-road thing can be part of our culture.
So please take just a few minutes out of your busy schedules and send Scott an email telling him how excited you are to come check it out.
Thanks for reading!
Bill

My Offroad club goes to Gilbert a couple times a year and has an absolute blast. Hopefully, this trail will give us one more spot to head to, since WI is to fawking stupid to build some of their own. Oh well, I'll drive 8 hours to spend my money in MN instead.

I visited the Iron Range Offroad area last fall and had a blast. I just sent an email in support of the new trail.:smokin:

Here in Iowa, we have zero public ground open to full sized vehicles. If it aint corn, they're not interested...:mad3:

Thanks everyone for your support but the fact is you are all advancing your own personal cause here, a guy posted on reno4x4.com that it is "helping a brother out clause" that we all signed the moment we put our junk in 4 Lo.
We are in our final hours here and I will be on the road all day tomorrow so I wont be on these boards to rally in our final day so I need to ask everyone to ask everyone they know with an email address to send a letter of support to Scott, I know Scott and have seen how he operates since he has gotten the job as Trails and waterways local manager he has created 0 miles of trails. I think it is 5-6 years now.
This is "public"...with overwhelming support they can no longer say that there isn’t interest in trails in Minnesota.
Thank you,
Bill member of the Northern Minnesota Jeepers
