I have a big stack of 12 inch sanding discs that I want to use with my new to me disc sander. Problem is they are older than dirt and don't have a adhesive backing. I tried google to come up with a suitable adhesive but came up empty. If figured I would ask here before I buried my nose in Mcmaster and woodworking catalogs.

I always used a spray adhesive from the hardware/home improvement store. I have not looked at in years, so I don't know the brand. When you take the old sand paper off, you can take the rest of the adhesive off with lacquer thinner and clean it up like new.

3M spray adhesive works good for this. The #77 is the most common, and should work fine. You'll need to clean the metal to get the best stick, I use acetone usually.

Well I have plenty of 3M spray 77, so I will give it a try. I was also looking at buying 3M feathering disc adhesive, as it is the only thing I was able to come up with. From what I could tell the stuff in the tube seems to be more for DA sanders and not very resistant to heat

X3 on the Super 77. I have a huge can that's probably close to 10 years old now. Only use it on the sanders...
