I recently was asked to help my nephew lift his 88 Jeep Cherokee. This is basically new to me. I am a welder by trade, so I have fabrication skills, but fabbing drilling parts and a front suspension are two very different ideas.

He already has the rear end lifted, and by what I can measure/compare it too, im gonna say its about 5-6". In an attempt to make his own Lower control arms, he cut the old LCA mounts off, and now he doesnt know what to do...enter me. I guess before diving into this, can the upper Control arm mounts drop down enough for a 5-6" lift, if I make him new LCA's and mounts, or are we going to have to fab new UCA's as well?

Thank you

Search for 5-6" lift kits for cherokee's and copy one of the designs.

Using stock locations for LCA's with 5-6" of lift will encounter problems. The geometry just plain sucks. So hoenstly its not that big a deal that he cut them off.

I would design your own radius arm set-up y-link design or a 3 link. Fab a beefier trans crossmember and locate the LCA's to it. This would make the lower links approx 36" for refrence. For ease of setup youll likely go with a radius setup. It should be faily easy to copy a design. Theres pleanty of write ups for home made radius set ups. Search around and you should be able to find all you need.

This for a TJ, But it has good info, And you could build the front arms like these, It would help with the UCA mounts. Its like a RE Long Arm.
