: tractor tire sizes?
chev85k10 02-22-2009, 07:28 PM Is there a tractor tire size calculator or a chart somewhere that shows overall diameter? Tractor tire sizing is like chinese to me for some reason. Looking for around a 40" or so v tread i can throw on the back when hitting the deaper stuff.. I know this isnt that big, but its all that will fit. For now
cslimfu 02-22-2009, 07:35 PM michelinag.com, then click on tire selector, then you will see a spot to identify tires by overall diamete, or what ever you want. pay attention to the wheel sizes and overall width. actually 16.5x r 16.1. 40" tall 17" wide on a 16.1 wheel.

jhama78 02-23-2009, 05:09 AM 9.5x24 is @ 41-42 inches tall
11.2x24 is @ 44-45 inches tall
iniviate 02-23-2009, 06:03 AM the first number is the tire width and the second number is the wheel diameter.
for instance, a 14.9-24 is 14.9" wide and takes a 24" wheel.
you have to look up the rest of the specs. personally, i use firestoneag.com. any of them work just fine though.
Magnum_Willys 02-23-2009, 08:53 AM I'd like to try a set of the XM47 's - speed rated to 55mph comes in 42's, 45's, 49's, standard V-tread bar tires.
Corey Young 02-23-2009, 10:09 AM 9.5x24 is @ 41-42 inches tall
I ran a set of these, they were 41" tall on the truck, and worked great.

the 16.9's are cheaper and will go through more without getting stuck... but hey, go ahead and get the 21.5-16.1's. :D
driver351 02-27-2009, 09:03 AM I get my 21.5 16.1's from work for free. Allot of sprayer carts and swathers around here run them. They have some bad sidewall cracks and have really slow leak's, but I'm a cheep bastard and am not worried about pumping them up every so often.

Red Chevy 03-03-2009, 10:33 PM Anybody running 18.4 x 16.1's? I am getting ready to order a set in a couple of days from Nebraska Tire. $399 each and $200 shipped to Louisiana. Anybody no of somewhere with better prices? What about wheel width, how wide should I run them on. I would like to get by with a set of 16x10's for now since that is a cheap common wheel I can get locally. Going on a Jeep and 1-ton's.
chev85k10 03-03-2009, 11:13 PM you guys running custom wheels or just getting new centers for the tractor wheels? Who sells them with different bolt patterns? Or do you just weld whatever bolt pattern you need in the wheel? Ive seen it done but it didnt look all that trustworthy.. Seems wheels in the rockwell pattern are plentifull, but i need 8x6.5
cslimfu 03-03-2009, 11:38 PM my local superior tire said they could get new centers for mine for $110 each. you may also want to check with youre local steel supplier. most times they have a huge laser table and can make stuff if you give them youre measurements.

it depends... the white crew cab i posted pics of has tractor wheels with the centers out of a stock rockwell wheel welded in. mine are "custom" flat plate centers that were welded into a shell.

If it is just plain mud that you're running in then the 16.9s do better, if there is a vegetation mat floating on top of a bog then the 21.5s do better.

seems to me theres gotta be a cheaper way out there to put tractor tires on a truck. I have found out that a farmall cub has the same bolt pattern as a cherokee, ranger, etc (5x4.5), a ford 8n has a 8x6 pattern, just seems there has got to be a tractor with a 8x6.5 pattern. I'm still lookin.
cslimfu 03-04-2009, 06:48 PM yeah, $200 per tire and wheel plus $110 for a new center or $250 (not $110) and they will cut out and weld in a new center for you, if you dont have a two peice wheel..what a rip off for a 52" tire.
dukedog1 03-04-2009, 07:03 PM anybody got a pic of the 710/70/R38's on a truck? I drive a John deere 9400 that has dual all the way around. There's lots of old tires around the shop that still have tread. I just found some 5 ton rockwells and am thinking about how to get all this junk together.
btw if you want 33 or 35's in a tractor pattern just search for some ditch witch tires. Usually cheap. especially at some farm auctions.

Red Chevy 03-09-2009, 04:41 AM Anybody run a 43 x 16 x 20? they are the R4 tread like on a backhoe or loader, but are only 4 ply so they shouldn't be too heavy. I found a pretty good deal on a set and wanted some input on them. Would the R4 tread pull pretty good in the mud?
coonbottom 03-10-2009, 01:47 PM Would the R4 tread pull pretty good in the mud?
They are o.k. A few guys run them. I would say they pull better than a cut bogger but a little less than an R1.
Best to just stick with an R1 or R2.
Red Chevy 03-10-2009, 05:41 PM Well, no one hardly runs tractor tires in my area, mostly boggers ad TSL's. I just bought a set of 4 with wheels on ebay for 1165 shipped to my door. I can't get boggers or tsl's for that price and my rig isn't going to be streetable so I think we will see how they do. Thanks.
Corey Young 03-12-2009, 12:55 AM Here is a Chevy with 41" X 9" Firestones, 24" dia wheels, which I made. These require tubes inflated to atleast 30 PSI or they will spin and tear the valvestems. I have driven this on the road, and they ride fine at 35 mph, but wear fast.
masonmachines 03-14-2009, 03:27 PM Can anyone confirm that a 16.1" wheel is identical to a 16" wheel, and not in fact different by 0.1"?
Ag4x4 03-14-2009, 04:24 PM Does anyone know off hand what the wheel bolt pattern is for 2.5T rockwells? I think its 6 on 8.75" but I want to make sure.
