we got the rear completely done, and the front just has to be put back together. all the new brackets are in place and the springs are in place as well. throw the shocks on and jack everything back up into position and bolt it up. it got late and we were ####ing spent. had to call it a night. we still managed to get a lot done considering we didn't start the lift till 3:30 in the afternoon.... damn dirty truck. :lol2:

looks like it's gonna be a bit. i was on my way out to get a buddy unstuck last night and my motor started exercising it's oil... all over the place. the oil light never came on, but as soon as i heard it knockin, i shut it down. it's not locked up yet, but i had it towed home anyway. i was really hoping to get 300k out of this motor before i swapped in the new one, but oh well. i cleaned it up with some degreaser, but i still can't readily see where the oil is spewing from. not just that, but it's too damn cold to mess with it today. i'll dig into it next weekend.

aside from blowing a gasket, are there any external oil lines on the 4.0?

i already knew that the motor wasn't going to last very long. i just wanted as much out of it as i could. i've got a new motor sitting in the garage. it's no big deal really. the fact that you think i should end my life because of what i chose to do with my money really makes me wonder about the type of life you live. does it really matter to you what i do with my money? :rolleyes:

Before you go giving that 4.0 it's last rites, check the oil filter adapter and the valve cover gaskets for the leak.

aside from blowing a gasket, are there any external oil lines on the 4.0?

Is it coming from the dipstick tube? if your breather is plugged oil can come up through the tube and spew cuz of the crankcase pressure increase as the motor heats up (due to lack of a breather). worth looking into. If the underside of your hood is clean though, thats most likely not your problem.

i'm definitely look into all possible solutions on this one. it's just too cold to go out and mess with it. there was oil EVERYWHERE. :laughing:

Buy a cheap pressure washer, clean it, fill it back up and put a brick on the gas pedal.... Narrow down the guessing game...

if its pumping out id say oil pressure sending unit - or someone didnt tighten the oil filter all the way / stacked gaskets

Nothing wrong with a bolt-on lift kit. Gotta start somewhere. Besides...it's the best way to learn how NOT to make a lift. I learned that on my own truck. I put a 6" Pro Comp lift on my Bronco...and I'll be damned if I use a boxed lift kit on anything ever again. I could have made better quality parts out of balsa wood.
