Have any of you guys put one of these in the rear. TYried to install one last night. Got it together, however the bolt just slides around and there doesn't seem to be a way to retain it in the locker. Any ideas?

???

What bolt?

Granted I've played with a quick-loc, not a lockrite, but they've always seemed identical to me... and its been a little while.

The only bolts I remember are the ones that hold the ring gear on, or the bearing caps..... picture?

There are no 'bolts' in a D44 lockright.

I've had one or two since 1999. Installed it/reinstalled it close to 15 times and never used an bolts. :flipoff2:

The cross pin maybe? D44 uses a roll pin to hold the cross pin IIRC

WOW 3 posts and no one flamed the newb. Arent we IH assholes anymore?

lock right goes into the stock open differental case and uses the roll pin to lock the cross shaft.
the trac lock limited slip is its own diff and has clips on the cross pin. sounds like your confused to me. learn your diffs then check back in. :shaking:

Thanks for the clarification. However there is no roll pin in the cross pin. Looking further into it the diff actually is a limited slip, same as the front in a 73 Bronco. Since I am not the original owner of the vehicle, I guess it is possible it was replaced. It was suggested that I should put the limited slip in the front and switch the carriers and still be able to use the lockrite. Learn as I go. We were all newbies at one time. I'll have to pull my current front end apart and see whats inside.

Thanks for the replies.

Agreed we may all me newbs at one time (or still are) but some of us try to refrain from asking questions that are searchable:flipoff2:

And searchable in the nooby and general 4x4 section.

Guess all you want as to what is in your front end but a 5 second fucking search of GOOGLE would have resulted in a picture of a lockrite that looked nothing like the thing you are trying to assemble :shaking:

I figured that's how they make their money to keep the board going. $20 isn't so bad. Small price to pay for the services offered.
