The public hearings for the Farmington, NM district of the BLM are this week. There is one tonite at the Farmington Civic Center from 3-6 and 7-9, Thursday in Durango at the Doubletree 4-6 and 7-9. There are also meetings in Crownpoint on the Navajo Res. and Cuba, I don't have the info on those. The deadline for comments is 9/26. This RMP could have repercussions thruout the SW, currently approx. 1.3 million acres are designated open, they want to make that just a few thousand with the preferred alternative. Say goodbye to new trails in areas like the Rock Garden without an EIS.:mad:

Went to the Farmington meeting last nite. Approx. 150 people there, mostly oil and gas and ranching, with a sprinkling of citizens mad at the oil and gas industry. Exactly TWO OHVers were there as far as I can tell, myself and our club Sec. At least the local newspaper guy that does the outdoor section was very interested in what I had to say.
