It's finally time to pick up some real AN wrenches and there are a lot of choices out there. I ordered a set of Earls single ended wrenches from Summit and didn't notice they were out of stock and they're backordered for 3 weeks.
My question is mainly if it's worth investing in a "nice" set or if I should get the Summit brand ($70) and save a few bucks. The Aeroquip set is quite a bit more expensive at $170. The Summit brand fittings don't ever seem to be quite the quality of the Earls or Aeroquip fittings but I've never had a problem with them.

Fucking gimic. I haven't seen one out of 500 A&P mechanics at work that have those dumb things.
If you don't need them on jets, you don't need them on a freaking car.

Thanks for saving me some money. All the race car guys around here use them :)
I guess the main reason I was interested in them was their short length for getting in tight places. Maybe I should wait until I can't get a fitting tight to pick up a set.

if you want short wrenches, just get some stubby ones and be done with it. i can add another 300+ A&P's that don't use them!

If you're dealing with larger sizes, get a set of service wrenches. Grip sells them quite cheap, and they're strong. We had 3 guys pulling on a 2.5' pipe on my 1 3/8" wrench. A few had the chrome to thick inside, so they had to be sanded, but for 1/6 the price of everybody else, I'll deal with that.
Otherwise, just use stubby's in tight spots. Snap-on 30/60 4 way wrenches are worth their weight in gold if it's a really tight spot.
