Newbie here...

Most experience is what I've learned from rebuilding my CJ-7. I have a '92 1500 2WD that my grandfather past down to me a number of years ago. IFS, 350, 12-Bolt Rear...you get the picture. 80,000 original miles. I'd hate to part with it and have been brainstorming ways to turn this thing into a weekend mud-bog warrior. It would be nice to keep it in the family. I was hoping to get some encouragement from some of you veteran builders. Is this possible? I've read a few articles about swapping out an IFS for springs. Would the frame need to be reinforced as well? What tranny/t-case setup would you attempt? How 'bout running gear? Too much effort?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated...even if negative.

Thanks for your time.

Forgot to mention that I've currently got a 4-Inch Rancho Suspension Lift, Daystar Coil Spacers in the front, and a Fab-Tech Add-A-Leaf in the rear. Even with these mods. a 33" inch tire is about the tallest your going to stuff under the wheel wells.

I think you mean ORD not offroad designs.

I think you mean ORU not ORD.;)

Because the crowd that ORD caters to already has the solid axle as a factory installment.

I coulve sworn offroad design had a solid axle swap bracket like the one trail gear carrys for the toyotas. . . .maybe they have a chevy one .

Offroad unlimited though definitely has what ur looking for. . sorry bout the mix up but theyre both good sites. most of the parts are pretty easy to build if u got some good fab skills.
