Dear Todd,
With a new administration and a Congress more strongly inclined to support wilderness protection, the time has come to take bold steps forward.
In a few weeks, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Representative Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) will re-introduce America's Red Rock Wilderness Act <http://www.suwa.org/site/R?i=Q88psgd7nv1FI7UF6WgPRw..> , a bill that would permanently protect 9.4 million acres of redrock wilderness from drilling and mining, off-road vehicle damage, and other threats to this majestic landscape.
As a first step in moving America's Red Rock Wilderness Act forward, we must demonstrate strong support by garnering cosponsors -- those members of Congress who will agree to publicly endorse the bill. Since a new Congress has begun, we must start from square one. Even if your Senators and/or Representative cosponsored the redrock bill last Congress <http://www.suwa.org/site/R?i=3NQlN5pkbTggxLGflYdYHA..> , he/she will not automatically be added to the cosponsor list this year.
Please urge the members of your congressional delegation to become original cosponsors of America's Red Rock Wilderness Act in the 111th Congress <http://www.suwa.org/site/R?i=dVR4j9weYaTgH1Mb8h4GLw..> . By working together, we can take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity to protect Utah's redrock wilderness.
Thank you for taking action!
