Guess what my wife did....
Appearently the average female can't tell when a tire is about to fall off. Here's the story... We get in the grocery getter, off to get groceries of course, and I notice this odd noise emanating from the front of the vehicle. After driving 20 feet I stop, and immediately return to the driveway. I starting by checking the lug nuts. I was shocked by what I saw. All four lug nuts were loose. (I'm sure many of you are awear that an XJ comes with a five lug front end.) The fifth lug nut was gone, along with the lug itself. The lug was broken at the base of the wheel. Can you beleive anyone would drive around with a loose wheel long enough to break off a lug? Women:mad:.
Anyway, my question to the group today is....
Can the lug be replaced by itself, or do I need to get a whole new hub assembly? In other words, is this a $5 job or a $150 job?
It's a '98 XJ with 58k miles.
Any thoughts?
