Plasma Cutter

Anyone familiar with the Thermal Dynamics Pak Master 38XL? I'm looking to get one for occasional use with max cutting would be 1/4". Theres one for sale locally and don't know if I should get it or one of the Chinese units instead.

My father in law has the same unit. I use it all the time. In fact I just keep it in my shop and he has to ask to borrow his plasma cutter.:D
I would buy one if I didnt have his.

Pics look like it wasn't abused, but it was bought in 2001. He's asking 500 for it, they don't sell them anymore so I don't know what it originally cost but it seems a little high to me. What do you guys think?

I bought a Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 39 which clean cuts 1/4" for $999.00 brand new so I would say it's a pretty good deal if it's in good shape.

X2 on the good deal. My cutmaster 38 was about 1K new. Thermal dynamics makes a good machine.

Just as a note, it looks like the Pakmaster 38XL also has the better gun that is used in their bigger models.
