'72 Wagoneer, stock 360, th400, dana 20. We're about to put in GM 3/4 ton junk, 10 bolt, 14 bolt ff rear, 4.10's.

I have a few questions. Since the driveshafts are going to need re-worked anyway, and possible new lines built. (Don't worry Jess, I have your number). I was thinking that we might be wise to throw in a 2nd transfer case right now.

Would it be a waste of time to put a np205 behind the dana 20? I'm not worried about the 205 :D but is that setup going to be really destructive on the d-20, 10 bolt and tranny-tcase adapter?

It would be nice to have more low range, especially when we get a dana 60 up front and can run larger tires. Seems like a divorced 205 wouldn't be too hard to throw in. Are there any writeups on a similar setup?

Also, where would one find a divorced 205? 70's Fords? Internationals travelalls? Thanks for the help.

well if you are going to use the chevy stuff, you will need a dodge or chevy divorced case. i have one in a 73 3/4 ton dodge crew cab. mike

Since you have a th400 why not do away with the D20 and get the range box from a NP203 from a chevy truck and mate it to a married 205.. will make your rear drive line about 15 inches longer than than your current plan

hydesert4wheeler,

the 203/205 would be sweet, but price is the main reason i'm not heading that route. i already have the th-400/dana 20 and it works fine. if you want to donate a th400/205 and 203 to make a doubler and pay for half of a doubler or make an adapter I'm all for it.

besides, wheelbase isn't that big of a concern, i will be around 110-112 inches before all is said and done. the doubler would definitely be stronger, but hopefully my fuse will be somewhere in the in the front end before the t-case/tranny...
