Just curious if anybody had any experience with a box like this http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_009C0428000B?vName=Tools&cName=Garage+%26+Tool+Storage&sName=Chest+%26+Cabinet+Combos
It is on sale this week and with the Craftsman Club discount I can buy this unit for $1034.00 and have it shipped to the local store for pickup and not have to pay any additional shipping or handling on it.
It will be used in our farm shop, on day I may be overhauling a John Deere tractor and the next I may be working on a Petrbilt and then we have the mud racing trucks. The box will get used heavily on days and then it will sit untouched at times too. Definately need something heavier than just a home hobby box.
Any input on this model or a like model of another brand would be great. I need the storage and am ready to do something about it!

I have the harbor freight 42" lower box and love it. I think I paid $330 for my lower box. One thing I don't like about the crapsman box is the lack of a full width upper drawer. I know my torque wrench and pry bar don't fit in a 26" drawer.

I've searched all over pirate and read alot of threads on boxes and chests but I have not been able to find any info on what the bb slides in the HF boxes are rated for.
As far as a full width drawer, I am kind of shying away from that arrangement because the wider the drawer the less stable it is, no matter whos box it is.

I have an older 40" bottom ball bearing chest that I love. It's sturdy and does what I ask for it. It's full and lives it's life in my garage. Mostly automotive jobs and tools. I don't abuse my stuff and I've had it for about 6-7 years now. I bought it used off of criagslist and it's still rockin.

I have the lower box in the sears link..
I like it, slides seem to be holding up nicely afte 2 years of daily use. I have a diamond plate work top on it and i beat the crap out of it..
The drawers are decent but the bottoms are a little flimsy, I bet if you had 3/4" sockets in it and really loaded it down it wouldnt be super happy but for the money, it's a great box.
by loaded down i mean, i have a buddy thats a mechanic and in his "socket " drawer, i'd bet he has 200++ pounds in one drawer alone

I've got the lower box in your link with a Waterloo upper. Pretty decent box, but I agree with FullsizeYota, the drawers are not real thick. Waterloo makes the boxes for sears, but they seem to use thinner metal, my upper has beefier drawers with better feeling grip latches
That said, I'd buy it again.

I didn't get all the way to check out (don't need another box right now... well I do, of course, need one, but I don't NEED one lol), but it was going to let me choose Free Super Saver Shipping... I've seen some good prices on Waterloo boxes from time to time. Keep an eye on them... for example, the 40" upper for $322 shipped or so. I'm ready to jump on that one next time I see it. :grinpimp:
This is the box that was $322 at one time:

I am going to have to agree that the Waterloo musty be a heavier built box from the shipping wieghts, the waterloo always outweighs the craftsman on identical boxes.
Also found that waterloo has a plant in Broken Arrow, OK. Would be great if I could find a local retailer and keep that money in Oklahoma.

I got mine off ebay from a liquidator. It had a cosmetic dent in it and I wound up paying about $500 shipped to my door after the seller screwed up and accepted my offer that said it included shipping ;)
