what is the best way too do high steer knuckles? i have a chevy full width 44 with flat top knuckles. i also have avalanche hi steer arms. my problem is the machine shop wants 300+ $ for machining the two knuckles for me. one side has the three bolts in it already sheared off, so they just need to remove the bolts and retap it, and the other side needs the bolt holes drilled and tapped.
whats the best way, and most cost effective to fix my dilema.
i remembered somebody, sold them already done or something, then you mailed in your old ones as cores.

You can get another driverside knuckle that should be in good condition for CHEAP. And you should be able to get an already tapped pass knuckle for $150.
On a side note I've got a drivers and pass side knuckle, both tapped that I will sell for $150. PM me if you're interested.. HTH

dammit, why do all the good deals come along after I've bought my shit. Buy those from him! Unmilled and undrilled will cost you like $100 from a junk yard. I needed mine fast so I paid more.

$300+???? Find a new machine shop. A local shop here milled/drilled and tapped the passenger side knuckle for me for $75.00, and I thought that was high!
They better get those studs out without increasing the size of the hole on the driver side, else the stock stud/conwasher and the avalanche steering arm won't fit right...

holy smokes batman!!!!
where do you live? the local machine shop here in turdville, usa charged me $60 to mill/drill/tap both of my knuckles...
i can get flat top knuckles here for about $75 a set.. thats already pulled... if i go do it.. its cheaper...
maybe its not so bad where i live.... nah... it really is...
Yeah, your MS is :smokin: find one that's realistic. You might want to give Avalanche a call. I heard they do em cheap!
Aaron your location says Boulder CO. Is that not accurate or what? I see that a shop in Texas built your YJ and that's why I ask. I also see 4xvideo in your sig, which is next door to Avalanche. (?) If you are in Boulder go to Rockstomper in Longmont. Scott will mill them a helluva lot cheaper than $300. It would probably be cheaper to find a new driver side knuckle than have the one you already own fixed.

so silly where i end up. i've been in texas lately because of a family illness. yes, we did work next to avalanche of denver at 4xvideo.com. i have been running a totally different business of late. although i still do fun stuff with 4x4 shops where ever i find them because they are always in need of t-shirts, web sites, that kind of stuff.
converti yota and i have worked out the knuckle situation. i contacted 3 M shops and apparently they all have the same supplier, cause their all high:flipoff2: they all quoted me around 300+.
the shop here in town is building on my junk, but their knowledge seems to fall short in some areas and i have to take care of problems.
