: York Compressor Question

I have a York that I am using in an onboard air system, and due to a new engine I put in the truck, I changed the mounting for it and had to lay it on it's side. up till now it has only blown a very minimal amount of oil into my air system. Since laying it on it's side it just pukes oil into the tank. I did the plug in the vein just behind the crank seal that I read about, but I noticed that this is on the suction side, and there is not one on the pressure side. Does anyone know what might be wrong and how to fix it? Do I need a new compressor?
It has great compresion, but I am at a loss here.

Let me know what I need to do..

Thanks

The York compressor will work fine if it's laid on it's side. However, the manufacturer recommends putting the suction side on top due to an oiling port that runs from the suction intake to the front seal. If the suction side is on the bottom, you stand to pump a lot of oil out the discharge port.

that port is sealed, and the suction side is on top with the compressor laid on it's side.

I was told by a local A/C place that if I lay it on it's side, and put a dip stick in the top, hole, I should measure 1" of oil on the dip stick.
Is this right?

There is a chart along with oil fill levels for different mounting angles at www.onboardair.com . I believe it did say 1 but not sure.

yep it was 1 inch..

I guess maybe I might just have a bad unit. I am at a loss. It even did this a little when it was mounted upright. but really bad now that it is on it's side.

Thanks for the help guys.
